Coronation Street legend’s return ‘sealed’ after four-word ‘clue’ from co-star

A Coronation Street icon could be returning to the Cobbles.

Helen Flanagan, who played Rosie Webster on the ITV soap, has sparked rumours that she could be waltzing back onto Weatherfield in the near future. The 33-year-old posted throwback snaps of her character from her time on the soap.

She captioned her post: “Some iconic Rosie moments @coronationstreet” next to a laughing face and heart emoji. The photos included Rosie kissing notorious serial killer John Stape, Rosie dressed as a goth and Rosie wearing a cheeky cheerleader outfit with the words “pop my cherry” on them.

Fans rushed to the comments to beg her to come back to Corrie after seeing the photos of Helen as Rosie. One fan wrote: “Is this a sign you are coming back!!? You are my fav character!!”.

Another said: “Love to see you come back, you were amazing as Rosie Webster.” However, perhaps most telling was an outburst from Helen’s former Corrie co-star Jack P. Shephard, best known for playing David Platt on the soap.

Hinting that Helen will return as Rosie, he commented: “She shall be back.” Lots of fans spotted the cryptic comment and some wondered if he’d accidentally just revealed a massive spoiler.

And Helen herself teased a future romance between Rosie and David. She replied: “does Rosie finally get with David [laughing emoji]xxx.”

Rosie was last seen on the Cobbles in 2018, meaning it’s been six years since we saw her last. Her first stint on the soap was from 2000 until 2012, when Rosie moved to London.

She returned in 2017, but only for a year as she left in 2018 to go on maternity leave. Helen previously admitted she would love to reprise her role as Rosie.

She told The Sun: “I would absolutely love to go back to Corrie at some point. It’s just timing. You know if you’re a mum, it’s working through things with the kids. I definitely want to do it at some point.”
