Corrie fans have predicted another huge sinkhole twist on the beloved ITV soap.
In 2020, the deadly first sinkhole opened up on the Platt’s Garden. And a year later and it ended up causing destruction, terror and death on the famous street.
As fans will recall, it was opened up during a huge storm in Weatherfield on Halloween. Beloved characters Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) and Jenny Bradley (Sally Ann Matthews) fell through the sinkhole and got stuck in the sewage system underground.

And in heartbreaking scenes, Johnny was swept away to his death. Elsewhere, the sinkhole horror also led to the showdown between Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) and Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) who fell underground.
The sinkhole was created by Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) in a bid to get David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) to sell the house. This was so the dodgy businessman could build a new hotel on the land.
However, three years on, fans fear that yet another sinkhole twist could be taking place – with one resident a likely character to get killed off, according to fans.
On a Reddit thread, fans were discussing how Gail Platt could be leaving the soap – following the news actress Helen Worth has quit. One person said: “The sinkhole will swallow her up, because there must be a reason why that storyline was never resolved, right?”
What’s more, over on an EastEnders Facebook fan page, one person brought up the sinkhole again and said: “Corrie was to have another sinkhole, who would you like to see disappear forever??!”
Fellow fans were quick to share their thoughts. One person said: “Leanne!” Someone else agreed and added: “Leanne at this moment in time!”. A third wrote: “Leanne she’s got so boring.”
Another fan mused: “Well Gails leaving after 50yrs, so could possibly be her.” A fifth joked: “The whole street – except Nick and Toyah.” Actress Sally Ann Matthews spoke about filming the sinkhole scenes in an interview with Digital Spy.
When asked if she was excited to film it she replied: “No! How many times have I said in an interview, don’t give me anything to do? I don’t like action. I hate it. I thought getting tasered was bad!
“But then I got there and did it and I bloody loved it. I loved every single second of it. I did write to [Corrie producers] Iain and Verity, after we’d finished the main six-day section, and said: ‘Please can I be in a sinkhole every week?’ Because I absolutely loved it!”
