Ruby Allen is making an explosive return to Walford as Louisa Lytton reprises her EastEnders role for a prolonged stint. Fans of the BBC One soap will remember Ruby’s final episode, which aired in November 2021, when she was taken to prison for her alleged involvement in a cannabis farm.
Ruby’s downfall was sealed by Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) who decided to turn her into the police as revenge over Stacey Slater’s (Lacey Turner) own imprisonment following a false accusation.
At the time of her dramatic exit, Ruby insisted she was pregnant with Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) child. But following a long list of lies, Ruby’s pregnancy was dismissed by Martin who believed she was telling another fabricated story.
BBC bosses are keeping tight-lipped about when exactly Ruby will make her return, and if she will have Martin’s child in tow, but they have promised she is set to cause “chaos” for her former partner Martin and ex-best friend Stacey.
Speaking about her upcoming return to EastEnders, Louisa, 35, who has appeared inthe show since 2005, said she was “thrilled” to be reprising her role.
She said: “I am thrilled to have been asked back to the Square to revisit Ruby once more, and to shed some light on what the past three years have been like for her during her time away from Walford.
“I’ve always loved playing Ruby as there is never a dull moment and I cannot wait for everyone to see what Ruby has in store.”
EastEnders’ executive producer Chris Clenshaw added: “I’m delighted to welcome Louisa Lytton back to the role of Ruby Allen.
“Ruby’s departure from Walford left many unanswered questions for Martin and Stacey, and her return is sure to unearth a whole heap of drama for her character and all those involved.” But how will her return play out?”
Ruby’s comeback follows the return of Chrissie Watts as actress Tracy-Ann Oberman will be slipping back into character for the first time in 20 years.
David Wicks, played by Michael French, is also making his way back to Walford and his daughter Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) will be in tow.
EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday on BBC One at 7:30pm
