EastEnders: Where you have seen Dean Wicks’ lawyer before including Emmerdale and Corrie

EastEnders has left viewers gripped this week as the trial for Keanu Taylor’s murder finally kicked off leaving Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) scrambling to prove his innocence with the help of his pushy lawyer.

Warren Finn, the defence lawyer, is pulling out all the stops to try and discredit witness statements from Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).

The no-nonsense barrister has so far pushed Sharon to breaking point as she will now spend seven days in prison for contempt, while he tried to brush Linda off as an untrustworthy alcoholic.

But EastEnders fans may be wondering where they have been Warren Finn before.

Actor Neil Roberts has transformed into Warren Finn once more after he first appeared on the show in April where he represented Eddie Knight (Christopher Fairbank) in his historic murder case against George Knight’s (Colin Salmon) real father.

But away from his role on the long-running BBC One soap, Neil, 59, has starred in an impressive list of television shows both in the UK and America. He’s also no stranger to soapland.

Fans may recognise the star for his portrayal of Rex Buckland in the hit American series Charmed in the late 1990s.

He was introduced during season one in 1998 and was a show regular until 2006.

The actor has also appeared in Party of Five, Baywatch Nights, Beverly Hills 90210 and once appeared opposite Dick Van Dyke in CBS’ Diagnosis Murder.

Neil was in the now-cancelled Channel 5 soap opera Family Affairs, had a recurring role in Holby City as Dr Phillip Lawlor, and portrayed Oberon Prince in Endeavour four years ago.

In 2011, he arrived in Weatherfield as Mike Leydon for a short Coronation Street stint. Mike was a client of Frank Foster’s (Andrew Lancel) and the pair was supposed to go into business.

But Carla Connor (Alison King) accused Mike of sexual assault leading to the character’s exit in early 2012.

Only four years later, Neil was cast as Detective Jason Wise in Emmerdale, a role he played for 17 episodes between 2016 and 2023.

DS Wise was tasked with investigating historic child abuse allegations against Gordon Livesy (Gary Mavers) made by his son.

In 2017, it was revealed that Neil was set to join Hollyoaks in a regular role as Glenn Donovan.

But the actor appeared in only 18 episodes before he quit and the character was recast as actor Bob Cryer took on the role.

EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
