Gogglebox hit out screens back in 2013 with family
Over the past 11 years, the Channel 4 series has been entertaining the nation as members of the public offer their honest opinion on the latest shows on television.
The civilian version and celebrity edition features a variety of different pairings from all walks of life and while some are siblings and just friends, others are married or in long-term relationships in the real-life.

It’s always a risk working with your other half and some cast members are no longer with their partners. Daily Star has taken a look at the Gogglebox couples who are no longer together.
Stephen and Daniel
Stephen Lustig-Webb shot to fame on the first ever series of Gogglebox in 2013 with his former boyfriend Chris Ashby-Steed and later went on to film with his late mum, Pat, then Daniel before the couple left last year. However, the pair have since confirmed their split since leaving the Channel 4 show.
Stephen “It’s with much sadness Daniel and I have decided to divorce. There is, and always will be, a lot of love there but we’ve unfortunately grown apart and made the decision to part ways.” Daniel told The Sun on Sunday: “We’ve made the decision with a very heavy heart to confirm our marriage has come to an end. I’m sure we will forever be friends.”
Silent Jay and Eve
Fans were first introduced to Eve Woerdenweber and her parents Ralf and Viv back in series two. The Wirral-based family appeared alongside Eve’s boyfriend, Jay Makin, who earned the affectionate nickname ‘Silent Jay’ for his quiet demeanour. Jay left the programme in 2015 after splitting from Eve. At the time, Jay shared his heartbreak during an interview with The Mirror.
He said: “I’m gutted that Eve broke up with me. It came completely out of the blue. We had a few problems and started drifting apart but I thought it was down to the pressure of the show and her business We argued too much and she said couldn’t cope with it. She called after a big argument and said she didn’t want to go out with me anymore. Eve said she still wants to be friends but hasn’t spoken to me and has deleted me on Facebook. It really hurts, we were so close.”
Denise and Eddie
Denise Van Outen made her Celebrity Gogglebox debut with her long-term partner Eddie Boxhall in 2019 until they split in 2022. They first got together in 2014 and were due to get married until she reportedly discovered her husband-to-be was sending explicit messages to other women behind her back.
Denise said she felt they couldn’t salvage their relationship following the betrayal. She told OK! : “I’ve got too much self-respect and I just can’t live like that, I felt like, in a few selfish moments, he’d ruined it. I couldn’t imagine it ever feeling the same,” she told OK! Magazine. “I believe everything happens for a reason, so I don’t really have any regrets at all, it just shapes you for the next part of your life. “If anything, I wish I’d known how to get myself out of heartbreak a little bit more, it’s a horrible thing to be stuck in it, and I think when I was younger I didn’t do the right things.” Eddie has since been replaced on Gogglebox by Denise’s close friend and Blue singer Duncan James.
Jon and Lucy
Comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox for the first time in 2022 and fans quickly dubbed them the new Giles Wood and Mary Killen after hilarious conversations over Weetabix, Titanic and crumbs in bed. The couple, both comedians, went down a storm with their disagreements on a wide variety of funny topics at the time.
However, the pair announced earlier this month that they are divorcing after nine years of marriage. A statement to the PA news agency said: “After 9 years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways. As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment.”
