Hairy Biker Dave Myers reportedly organised his funeral before his tragic death and he had one special request for his guests.
The beloved chef died on Wednesday (February 29) at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer. It’s been revealed that he had already arranged his funeral and wanted his guests to “loosen up” after the main service.
His plans included his coffin being carried out to The Best is Yet To Come by The Scorpions to “cheer everyone up”. Dave explained he wanted to be remembered as someone “who had a go” and encouraged those around him to “never limit” their dreams.

The MailOnline revisited an article by Rob McGibbon from 2014 where Dave discussed his funeral plans. Dave said: “I’d like vodka martinis served before a church service to get everyone loosened up.
“To begin, I’d have a reading of Blake’s Innocence, then Vaughan Williams’ Lark Ascending to get them crying. I would be carried out to The Best is Yet To Come by The Scorpions, a good rock anthem to cheer everyone up.
“I’d prefer a traditional burial as I’m not keen on all that burning stuff. For the wake, I will lay on a feast of meat and potato pie and chips with some decent wines.”, reports The Mirror.
Dave’s philosophy was all about reaching for the stars. He said: “Just have a go and never limit your ambitions. Aim for the moon and you might just get there. As my dad used to say, ‘You’ve got to fill in your coupon, or you’ll never win the Pools’.”
Dave’s passing was shared by none other than his fellow Hairy Biker, Si King. Posting on social media, he shared: “Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years.”
“On 28th February 2024, surrounded by Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David, and myself, we said our goodbyes to Dave at his home. This loss has left everyone who knew Dave heartbroken. His wife brought him immense joy as did her children, Iza and Sergiu whom Dave loved as if they were his own.”
He went on to share his grief, saying: “Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.”
Si’s heartfelt farewell continued: “I wish you god’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.”
He added: “I know Dave and his family would want me to thank all of you who sent messages of support in recent times. It meant the world to him, his family and all The Hairy Bikers team.”
“I am sending you all much love and gratitude for those simple acts of kindness, generosity and spirit. We are eternally grateful for them.”
“May I ask you all for one further kindness and allow Lili, his wife, his family, close friends and I some time and some peace to process our huge loss. I am sure I will see you all soon.”
