Home and Away star ‘excited’ as she announces she’s pregnant with first child

A legend from Home and Away has announced she is pregnant with her first child.

Aussie actress Rebecca Breeds, 37, confirmed that she is expecting her first child as she took to her Instagram to reveal all. Flaunting her gorgeous baby bump on her social media, Rebecca dropped the bombshell as she attended the premiere of a new film at the Adelaide Film Festival.

Rebecca, who plays the role of Ruby Buckton on the Aussie soap, was beaming with smiles as she cupped her baby bump for photographers on the red carpet at the premiere of her new film Kangaroo Island. In the film, the actress stars as Lou Wells, a Hollywood actress who heads back to the island to deal with her family’s traumatic past.

Uploading a snap from her stint on the red carpet, Rebecca gleefully penned to her followers on her social media that she was having her first child. “VERY excited to share baby Mitchell and Kangaroo Island coming sooooooooon!” she wrote, before thanking the festival for the premiere.

In the snap she posted, the actress looked glamorous as she was draped in a floor-length baby pink gown that highlighted her bump. The asymmetrical dress also boasted a slit down her right leg, allowing her to flaunt her glowing body for photographers.

Fans were quick to rush to the comments section to congratulate the star on her new bundle of joy. Many also took to congratulating Rebecca’s partner Luke, as many shared in the couple’s excitement.

“Congratulations Bec and Luke! Very exciting news,” penned one happy fan. “You look amazing,” wrote a second, whilst a third added: “We’re so excited for you guys!!”

Doting dad Luke also confirmed the news on his own social media channels, sharing his wife’s post to his story. He added in the caption: “I’m the luckiest man, husband & soon to be Dad (!!) in the UNIVERSE.”

Luke and Rebecca have been happily together for some 15 years after they first met on the set of Home and Away, which airs in the UK on Channel 5. First laying eyes on each other in 2009, Luke starred Romeo Smith on the soap, while Rebecca won fans over as no-nonsense Ruby.

After three years of dating, Luke plucked up the courage the question in May of 2012, with the couple officially tying the knot in January of 2013. Since then, the couple have been happily loved up, moving to the US for a number of years, before deciding to return to Australia.

Speaking about her move back home, Rebecca said in an interview with Aussie mag TV Week: “It’s been really, really nice just to ground ourselves and be back home; I finally have a garden – I’ve been wanting to have a vegetable garden for so long. So we’re literally putting down roots back home and that has been very soothing for the soul.”
