Judi Dench left mortified as pet parrot calls her home help a ‘sl*g’

Acting icon Dame Judi Dench has been left horrified after her parrot insulted her carer.

The James Bond legend, 89, has been continuing her acting career, landing prominent roles in movies such as Belfast, Spirited and Allelujah. But as the years pass on, Dame Judi has started using a carer to help her with errands around the house.

Recently, the star had been having a home visit from her carer pal, when she met Judi’s beloved parrot Sweetie. But while the carer may have loved meeting the bird, Sweetie was not pleased to see them, hurling a torrent of abuse at Judi’s carer.

Dubbing the nurse a “sl*g”, Dame Judi was shocked at the horrific term it has used. The Oscar winner revealed all, saying: “The parrot was given to me and didn’t speak for a long time.

“Then she suddenly said to Barbara, who comes in to me three times a week, ‘You’re a sl*g’,” she said, according to The Sun. But it appeared that the winged animal was not finished with its X-rated abuse at other people Judi knows.

During another awkward encounter, Sweetie was not best pleased with some of Judi’s friends who had come to pay her a visit. As a result, the bird hissed the words “Boris Johnson” when they passed by, leading to the Philomena actress being left red-faced.

However, friends are not the only victims of the parrot’s foul mouth, as family are not even spared from Sweetie’s insults. When the Oscar winner’s grandson visited with his girlfriend, she mentioned that she had been using thermal underwear – to which the animal shot back: “Sl*t”.

In the bizarre revelation, Judi insisted that she was not lying about the bird and insisted that “honest to God, it’s true.” She continued: “I don’t know where she learned the timing.”

Previously, Judi – who made her big break in theatre – admitted that she had tried to teach her feathered friend some lines from Shakespeare. However, the parrot refused to play ball, and Judi ultimately abandoned the idea, as it refused to speak for quite some time.

It comes as Judi continues to use her voice against illegal trophy hunting, calling on the government to keep its promise of banning the practice. A number of other celebs, including Ricky Gervais, Dame Joanna Lumley and Sir David Jason have also given their backing to the push.

Speaking about the practice, Dame Judi said that a pledge in Labour’s election manifesto needs to be fully implemented. “I have never understood people who want to hunt and kill wild animals.

“We hunt to show off, what is the point of that? I say it should stop,” she said. She later added: “Trophy hunting is cruel, archaic and cowardly.”
