TV personality Kelly Osbourne has fired back at an entertainment executive who once told her she was “too fat for TV”. Recalling her early experiences in the spotlight, the 39 year old daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne revealed on The Osbournes Podcast how she was mocked for her size and urged to shed pounds in order to succeed on screen.
“It was the most insulting f***ing thing,” she shared with her listeners. “When I was a kid, I got pulled into the head of the agency’s office and he was putting golf balls into a cup and gave me a whole speech about how I was too fat for TV and I needed to lose weight, and that if I lost weight, I would look better.”
She went on to talk about the lecture she received about needing to lose weight in order to progress in her career. The name of the executive remains undisclosed, but she did hint at the era this took place – presumably around 2003 when she was cast alongside Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in the Disney remake of ‘Freaky Friday’.

“I was gonna play her best friend, and then it was right before Mom got diagnosed with cancer, so I quit,” she continued. “And he was just saying, ‘You’re not a movie star, but you could be one if you lost weight.'”.
After hearing his sister’s tale, co-host Jack Osbourne chimed in, labelling it as the “most LA s**t ever.”, reports the Mirror.
Kelly’s weight has always been under the microscope, with her recent slimming down sparking wild speculation among her followers. Some even suggested she might have used the weight loss drug Ozempic. However, the Dancing With the Stars alumna was quick to quash these rumours, clarifying that she hadn’t relied on any weight loss medication to shed her post-baby weight.
In a chat with Extra in April, Kelly dismissed claims of using Ozempic herself, but revealed that her mum Sharon had successfully used the drug. “I know everybody thinks I took Ozempic,” she told the outlet.
“I did not take Ozempic. I don’t know where that came from. My mom took Ozempic.”
Kelly famously lost 85lbs after giving birth to her son Sidney in 2022. But rather than shedding pounds for vanity’s sake, the singer disclosed that her weight loss was due to eliminating sugar and carbs from her diet following a gestational diabetes diagnosis during her pregnancy.
To prevent the condition from turning into permanent diabetes, Kelly made the drastic dietary switch and quickly lost the weight.
