Liam Payne may have been ‘fully unconscious’ when he fell to death

Liam Payne may have been “partly or fully unconscious” when he tragically fell from a hotel balcony, according to prosecutors.

The 31-year-old singer plunged from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina’s capital, sparking a flurry of emergency services at the scene.

Reports suggest that police were called to the hotel following reports of a man behaving aggressively, possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A body was discovered in the hotel’s internal patio, with authorities believing that Liam fell approximately 13 or 14 metres, resulting in “very serious injuries incompatible with life”.

An autopsy revealed that the pop star died from severe injuries sustained in the fall, and notably, he didn’t adopt a reflex position. Given these findings, prosecutors suggest that he may have been partly or fully unconscious when he fell, as reported by Fiscales.

The post-mortem disclosed that singer Liam succumbed to “internal and external haemorrhaging” from catastrophic injuries. The procedure was conducted by two forensic pathologists in Buenos Aires, with Argentinian law enforcement now awaiting additional tests to determine the finer points of the artist’s tragic demise.

Liam was killed instantly yesterday after tumbling from his hotel balcony, authorities in Argentina have said.

The horrendous accident took place on Wednesday (October 16), as the One Direction star fell from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires. He was found to have a fractured skull among multiple injuries, which led to his immediate passing, according to emergency services.

Alberto Crescenti, the Buenos Aires emergency services chief, shared his sorrow with The Sun, saying: “Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life.”

He further explained the devastating scene: “Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death.”

Even more distressing details emerged as audio leaked online, featuring calls made by the hotel’s concerned head of reception to the emergency services. During the frantic communications, he revealed staff feared for the well-being of a guest who seemed to be endangering their own life.

In one of the calls, the head of reception stated: “We have a guest drunk with drugs and alcohol. When he [them, gender not clear in conversation] is conscious, he is breaking everything in the room.”

Clearly alarmed, he continued: “We have a guest who is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come.”

After losing connection, he urgently rang again pleading: “We need you to send someone urgently because I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger.”

He finally expressed the harrowing worry: “They must be in a room that has a balcony. And well, we’re a little bit worried he’ll do something, that he’ll put his life at risk.”

Liam’s body was discovered in the hotel’s inner courtyard at around 5pm local time.

According to TMZ.com, witnesses claimed Liam had been “acting erratic” in the hotel lobby, with reports indicating he smashed his laptop and was escorted back to his room.

Following the tragic incident, Buenos Aires officials have initiated an inquiry into the star’s demise, while the UK Foreign Office has acknowledged contact with Argentine authorities “regarding reports of the death of a British man”.
