Love Island fans slam ‘hypocrite’ Jess as Matilda ‘clocks her’ Casa Amor behaviour

Love Island fans are sick of Jess White’s “hypocrisy”. They vented their frustrations after she rowed with Matilda Draper over Hugo Godfroy.

Jess White, 25, hasn’t had an easy ride in the ITV2 villa as of yet, failing to really find a romantic connection. But things seemed to change when the girls moved to Casa Amor and Jess met Hugo, 24.

The duo have been flirting since the start of the Casa Amor twist, sharing a bed and plenty of kisses. However in Wednesday night’s episode (July 3), fans saw Matilda, 24, and Hugo exploring their connection.

Jess could be seen fuming over their conversation, saying Matilda should back off because she could see how “happy” Jess was. She also mentioned that Matilda had found someone in Sean Stone, 24, back in the main villa.

But viewers have seemingly turned on Jess, saying she “can’t stand by what she preaches”. On Reddit, one fan fumed: “It’s fine when she does something for herself, but if Matilda explores a connection for herself then it’s an issue because Matilda has crossed some line laid out by Jess herself. Bare in mind she’s known this guy two days.”

The viewer went on: “They were ‘friends’ when someone wronged her, but not if she does that to someone else who thought they were friends. And of course, it’s wrong not to tell someone your intentions before you have a chat with someone… but not when she does that to someone.”

During the episode, Matilda and Jess got into a bit of an argument, with Matilda defending her behaviour. The fan continued: “Got to be able to take if if you can dish it hun! Irony is unreal with Miss Jess.”

Fans seemed to be in full agreement, with one responding: “Matilda clocked her real good with ‘you wouldn’t do what? Have a conversation?'”

Another said: “You could see her sinking into her chair when Matilda didn’t let her walk all over her. Very satisfying to watch.”

Others pointed out Jess said she wouldn’t kiss Hugo again, but was then seen snogging him in bed that night.

However, one person defended Jess, saying her past triangle with Harriett Blackmore, 24, and Ronnie Vint, 27, had not been the same. “It’s crazy to say Harriett and Jess were ever really friends,” they said.

They went on: “It’s not the same as Jess and Matilda were, even Nicola was saying ‘aren’t you guys close?'” They added: “I think there’s a bit of sublimated cattiness on Matilda’s part towards Jess, whether it’s because of being friends with Harriett or if she feels a slight competitiveness knowing how much Sean wanted Jess before she came in.

“But end of the day, friends don’t sabotage friends unless there’s some counter intention buried deep down, no matter whether it’s technically sanctioned by the crazy arbitrary Love Island rules or not.”

Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
