Actor Angel Salazar has died at the age of 68.
Angel is best known for starring alongside Al Pacino in the 1983 film Scarface. He played Al’s soldier Chi Chi.
His death was confirmed by his rep and confidante Ann Wingsong. Ann told TMZ on Sunday that Angel, who had heart problems, died in his sleep at a friend’s house.

The friend is said to have checked on Angel and found him lifeless in bed. His cause of death has not yet been released, according to the publication.
Throughout his career, Angel also acted alongside the likes of Tom Hanks in Punchline, as well as Michelle Pfeiffer, Steven Bauer and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. He had been working right up until this year, with more than 15 upcoming credits, according to IMDB.
He had most recently appeared in the upcoming movie The Brooklyn Premiere. In it, he reunited with Steven Bauer, who played Manolo in Scarface, as they became partners in crime.
Many of the Cuban-American’s acting roles saw him appear in the gangster genre. But it was his appearance in the iconic movie Scarface which he is best known for.
He played a friend of Tony Montana, who was played by Al Pacino. Fans have been sharing their condolences online.
One person, sharing snaps of times they had met him, wrote: “RIP Angel Salazar aka Chi Chi. Gonna miss you bro.”
Another said: “RIP Angel Salazar – another comic friend leaves us.” A third wrote: “RIP to Angel Salazar. Prayers to his family.”
