This Morning halts segment minutes into show after Ben Shephard blunder

The This Morning hosts were all set to give viewers a sneak peek into the day’s lineup when Ben Shephard got amusingly sidetracked.

Cat kicked things off, saying: “OK, let’s take a look at what we have coming up on today’s show. Bringing the laughs to the studio comedian Chris McCausland is here as he prepares to take over Saturday mornings with his very own daytime show.”

Ben chimed in with his own quip: “Let’s get Chris racing around the studio as well,” before segueing into: “Also we are taking a journey back in time as they have been dominating the land of the living dinosaurs, morning, David.”

The scene then switched to David at a safari park, who enthused: “One of my favourite exhibits is the dinosaur section, I’m joined by a little bearded dragon here, this is Kenny, say hello Kenny.”

“And behind me are some of his ancestors, these dinosaurs look incredibly lifelike”, as reported by the Express.

David went on: “Many of the plants here date back to prehistoric times, indeed, I’ll be exploring some ancient plant life that you can grow in your own backyard.”

Finally, Cat concluded with: “Helping you make a splash this summer, Laura is poolside with her pick of the best swimwear.”

After a brief pause on air, Ben Shepherd realised he’d fumbled: “Oh I thought we were going to hear…there is me just staring at the bikinis.”

He quickly shook off the confusion and announced to viewers: “The sun is out which means one thing for most of us, it is rose time and we have found some of the best bottles.”

This Morning presenter Isla also sparked uproar from Tenerife

Later on the show, after teasing upcoming features, Ben, alongside his co-host Cat, connected with Isla Traquair who was reporting from Tenerife on the unsettling disappearance of teen Jay Slater.

The move to dispatch Isla to Tenerife sent social media into a frenzy, with viewers bewildered by the necessity of the onsite report.

A viewer popped onto Twitter questioning: “What is Isla doing in Tenerife? How is that helping? #thismorning.”

Another let their irritation be known online, commenting: “B****y hell! Now they’ve sent Isla to Tiverife! Why exactly? #thismorning.”

Yet another chimed in with criticism: “This is pretty ghoulish this. #ThisMorning.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
