Chilling mystery of Kurt Cobain’s death – and how he’d look now according to AI

Kurt Cobain would have turned 58 on February 20, had he not taken his own life on April 5, 1994. But now, thanks to AI, we can see what the Nirvana icon might look like now

Nirvana icon Kurt Cobain was only 27 when he tragically ended his own life at his Seattle residence on April 5, 1994. The grunge icon is part of a long list of celebrities who have died at the age of 27.

If he hadn’t passed away so prematurely, the music legend would have celebrated his 58th birthday on February 20. However, thanks to technological advancements, we can get a glimpse of what he might look like today if he were still alive, courtesy of AI.

Apart from a few additional wrinkles, AI bot Midjourney suggests he’d look quite similar.

Cobain’s mother Wendy’s comment at the time of his death sparked conspiracy theories.

Music journalist Lesley-Ann Jones revealed in a previous Netflix documentary: “His mother Wendy, when he died, gave an interview to a local paper. She said ‘He’s gone and joined that stupid club. I told him not to join that stupid club’. Which was taken to mean the 27 Club.”

But as Lesley explained, the comment was more likely referring to the Cobain family’s history. “What she really meant was the uncles who had died by suicide,” she clarified.

The suicidal tendencies in Cobain’s family trace back to 1979 when Burle Cobain, Cobain’s uncle, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his stomach. Another of Cobain’s uncles also committed suicide five years later with a gunshot wound to the head.

Despite the presence of a suicide note, conspiracy theories continue to swirl around Cobain’s death, with many insisting he was actually murdered.

The enigmatic “27 Club” remains a pop culture staple, fed by conspiracy buffs. It popped up anew when Amy Winehouse tragically succumbed to alcohol poisoning in 2011.

Then, the “club” gained another posthumous member with the untimely death of Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin, crushed by his vehicle in 2016. Other famous faces pegged as “members” of this notorious grouping include rock legends Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones, and the grandson of Elvis Presley, Benjamin Keough.

Although typically linked to musicians, the club doesn’t discriminate by profession, counting amongst its ranks Big Brother sensation Jade Goody and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Sahara Davenport, who both passed away at 27.
