Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid and Ed Balls locked horns as they discussed bins.

One viewer said the show had just become “noise” as the TV stars got into a conversation about where bins should be. Susanna and Ed – who regularly host the ITV show together – were discussing fly-tipping and the idea of tougher sentences, when Susanna said what she’d like to see was “bins on streets”.

However, while she tried to explain what she meant, Ed kept chiming in. Some fans then moaned that they felt the presenters were talking over each other.

The instalment featured regular pundits Kevin Maguire and Andrew Pierce, with the group talking about the problem of fly-tipping and potential deterrents. “My thing, bins on streets!” Susanna exclaimed. “She wants a personal bin outside her house…” said Ed.

“No, I have got a personal bin outside my house, and I do have that like every resident does,” she pointed out. “And a police officer to make sure that everyone who puts something in your bin gets convicted?” her co-host replied.

But Susanna told him: “No obviously not a police officer. I don’t know about where you live but where we live the council provides a bin obviously.” “For you,” said Ed. “Yes for me and my house,” the star said.

She went on: “I want… when you come out of schools for instance and you’ve got lots of children and they’ve been to the shop and they have got loads of rubbish, where do they put the rubbish?” “In your bin!” said Ed.

“I don’t mind if they put it in my bin,” said Susanna. “But my bin isn’t outside every single school.”

“I don’t understand why we took away the bins?” she asked. “Ed doesn’t agree with me, and I’m really confused why this is a debate.”

He chimed in: “I just don’t think everybody can have two bins, one in their house and then one on the street in front of their house for passersby?” “People don’t come onto your property to put things into your bin do they?” he asked. “Would you put a sign up saying, ‘Bin available.’ People don’t do that!”

However, it seems several viewers were unimpressed by the debate. One person posted a message on X quipping that the topic was “rubbish”.

“Do they all need to talk over each other,” asked someone else. “What’s the point of these two fools talking over each other,” said another viewer, who said it was “just bloody noise”. “You have these people on and then talk all over them,” said another viewer.
