Hulk Hogan had an ‘adverse reaction’ after undergoing major surgery, his long term friend confirmed today.

Longtime friend and former WCW executive Eric Bischoff confirmed the news that Hulk is still in hospital after rumours swirled earlier this week. Bischoff said in a statement: “Hulk Hogan had a very successful cervical surgery and is experiencing some adverse reaction. He’s doing well and should be home later today. Doctors are expecting a full recovery.”

This comes after ex-pal, shock jock Bubba The Love Sponge, claimed on his YouTube channel that the Hulkster, 71, was on his “deathbed” and his family had been called to “say their goodbyes” after he suffered “heart failure”.

The WWE legend should be heading home soon

However, friends of the WWE Hall of Famer rubbished these rumours, saying he was in hospital but by no means close to death.

While not officially confirmed the nature of his operation, cervical surgery can mean procedures on the neck’s bones, discs, or soft tissues, often to address pain, nerve compression, or structural issues. These are likely lingering neck and back issues that have plagued The Hulk since his wrestling days.

Bubba, who was once sued by Hogan for leaking a sex tape of his wife and the wrestler, told his YouTube channel on Wednesday: “If you did some sniffing around, you might find him in a hospital near you. And it’s not good.

“I got some pretty reliable information last night that there are phone calls being made to various family members about getting to town to come say your goodbyes.”

He went on: “I don’t know this to be true,” but added his sources were “pretty damn reliable”, adding: “Allegedly Hogan is in the hospital and I’ve heard people say he might not make it… He’s not doing well. He’s not in good shape. I think it’s a heart issue.”

Bubba was a long-time friend of Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, before the leaked sex tape and subsequent court case which was settled when the radio personality issued a public apology in 2018.

The pair have never made up since the long-running saga, which stemmed from Hogan being filmed having sex with Bubba’s wife Heather in 2006 without his permission.

Earlier this year, Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan revealed they’d once again be working together, announcing the launch of Real American Freestyle Wrestling League.

There are risks associated with cervical surgery. These include risk of infection, bleeding, difficulty swallowing or speaking, damage to throat or limited recovery due to preexisting damage to the nerves.
