EXCLUSIVE: Reality TV legend Kim Woodburn has sadly passed away at the age of 83 but she will forever leave an impact on her fans and Daily Star reporter Carly Hacon
After the sad news broke today that Kim Woodburn had passed at the age of 83, I was immediately saddened but fondly looked back on the advice she had given me during our chats.
TV titan Kim sadly passed away on Monday (June 16) after a short illness, those close to her have confirmed.
She first shot to fame with her hit Channel 4 cleaning show, How Clean Is Your House? and became reality TV legend with explosive stints on Celebrity Big Brother and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
Despite being known for her mighty TV showdowns, every time I’ve spoken to Kim she’s been warm but still, of course, very quick-witted and extremely direct.
From sex life advice to telling me I’m a “well-mannered girl”, after a fair few interviews with Kim I was able to build a rapport with the CBB star, who many feared due to her furious outbursts.
However, I always found Kim very personable and she told me she only ever blew up to people who “deserved it”. Many celebs have been unlucky enough to have been in her firing line, but thankfully I have always managed to stay on her good side.
We once bonded over a conversation discussing the secrets to a long-lasting relationship as she had been married to her 79-year-old husband, Peter Woodburn, since 1979.
According to Kim, the key to successful romance is to carry on getting down and dirty well into your 80s. This may be where I’ve been going wrong as I’ve definitely gotten bored of past lovers after a much shorter period of time.
When I told Kim I “couldn’t be bothered” to get in the sack most of the time it was almost like I personally offended her. She gasped: “You can’t be doing that dear, that’s why you can’t keep a man. They will get it elsewhere if you don’t keep up appearances!”
Before adding: “But you are a lovely girl, so never settle, my love,” a comment which I very much appreciated at the time, and still do now.
Although when it comes to her own boudoir behaviour, she did confess to being a little too obsessed with her hubby, Peter.
The TV star admitted to being a “very passionate lover” and would’ve been tempted to get a toyboy if her husband couldn’t “keep up”.
Kim once told me: “I’m a passionate woman, very passionate. My poor husband looks about 103 and he’s only 25. I always have the passion and look at my man in bed and think ‘Ooh’. But my husband thinks I’m mad.”
“I think my husband’s getting tired of sex though. I think he has the poor old bugger. He’s 79 and he said: ‘Look, dear, I’m gonna buy a mirror over the bed, so I can watch myself having a headache’.”
“So I think he’s trying to tell me that he’s fed up with us making love. He can’t keep up. But never mind I’ll get myself a toy boy. I have to pay him. I’ll do it. I’ve got a few bob.”
As many tributes have flooded in for Kim, with many odes to her iconic moments, it is safe to say the TV star and her very brazen opinions will be sorely missed – especially from me.
RIP Kim luvvy x
