Matt lost 42 kilograms and dropped from a XXL size to a medium but dramatic weight loss means he now has excess skin and is planning to do something about it
Matt Lucas is planning to have cosmetic surgery to remove his loose skin.
The Little Britain comic began his weight loss journey in 2021 after ballooning in weight during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Matt has since lost 42 kilograms and dropped from a XXL size to a medium, but his dramatic weight loss has resulted in him being left with excess skin and he is prepared to have a procedure to remove it.
Appearing on his Making A Scene podcast, he said: “When you lose a lot of weight, you do end up with loose skin, I do have loose skin. So, I would say maybe I might have something done surgically just to make it a bit more presentable.”
Matt admits his weight does still fluctuate so he doesn’t believe he is at the end of his journey and he still has a belly, despite his commitment to his weight loss journey.
He said: “I do still have things in the house that are sort of half a stone either way still. Yeah. Because I do still fluctuate and I’m not, you know, it’s not like, I don’t feel like it’s finished.
“Like, I put on two kilos recently, so it doesn’t feel like I’ve reached the end of that journey. You know, I do still fluctuate.
“I’ve lost about 42 kilograms. I think I’m about 68, 69 kilos. But when I look down, I still see a really juicy belly when I look down. So I don’t feel that I’ve lost the weight.”
Matt says the strangest thing that happened to his body after he lost so much weight was that he dropped a shoe size as his feet got smaller.
The 51-year-old comedian has all of his larger clothes in storage in Los Angeles, where he used to live, but he is going to return to LA and sort through the items and give them away.
He said: “You know, one of the weird things since I’ve lost the weight, is I’ve gone down a shoe size, which you don’t think you will. They’re less fat now, that’s for sure. I’ve got a load of thicker socks.
“I lived for seven years in Los Angeles, and most of what I own is out there in storage. I came back, sold up, then we had the pandemic, then I was doing Bake Off, now I’m doing things here with you. So I don’t think I’m going back to LA.
“I think I had a lovely time there, but I’d like to stay here. I also don’t massively want to move to LA while Trump is, you know, it’s not the same, the fires, the weather, it’s not.
“So most of the large clothes that I’ve got are in storage, but my plan is to go out there soon and go through the storage facility. I would gift them to charity shops, I guess.”
