Actor Mickey Rourke was removed from the Celebrity Big Brother house for using “offensive and inappropriate language”, following heated bust-ups with several housemates
Mickey Rourke of all people told off Alan Carr for the way he spoke about a gay person.
The 72-year-old actor was kicked out of the house for his “offensive and inappropriate language” – and reportedly had his rumoured 500k fee slashed. Big Brother had already warned him about his behaviour after he made homophobic remarks to singer JoJo Siwa.
But 15 years before his stint in the house, Mickey tried to police TV presenter Alan Carr, who is gay himself, on the way he spoke about gay people. The bizarre moment took place in a resurfaced clip from a 2010 episode of Alan Carr: Chatty Man.
At the time, Mickey was set to play rugby player Gareth Thomas in a biopic, which ended up not happening anyway. Thomas famously came out as gay in 2009, after which he received an outpouring of support from the public.
However, Mickey seemed to have an issue with Alan Carr’s phrasing and seemed to think it’d be a good idea to pull the host up on it. Alan asked the former boxer what it was like to play “a gay rugby player”, to which Mickey responded: “You’re not supposed to say that.”
He continued: “We’re doing a movie about a man, who plays rugby, who is gay”. Not missing a beat, Alan fired back sarcastically: “Sorry, I shouldn’t be so homophobic.”
JoJo Siwa was left in tears after Mickey used the f-slur against her in the house. He asked the 21-year-old who she was into, with JoJo responding: “Girls. My partner is non-binary.”
The Wrestler star retorted: “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.” JoJo assured him that she could “guarantee” he was wrong, after which Mickey told Chris Hughes: “”I’m going to vote the lesbian out real quick.”
JoJo overheard his comment and said: “That’s homophobic, if that was your reasoning.” Chris stepped in and told Mickey he couldn’t say things like that. Mickey then used a slang term for a cigarette which is also used as a slur against the LGBT community.
“I need a [cigarette],” he said, before nodding towards JoJo and adding: “I’m not talking to you.” The actor ended up getting pulled into the Diary Room and slapped with a warning.
Big Brother told him: “Mickey before you entered the Big Brother house the rules regarding unacceptable language and behaviour were explained to you. Mickey, do you understand how this language could be offensive to your Housemates or the viewing public?”
Mickey said: “Yeah I think so. If I was saying it in a nasty kind of way or if I truly meant it.” Big Brother went on: “Mickey, Big Brother thinks your language was offensive and unacceptable.” Mickey agreed: “Alright. I can understand that.”
“As a result, Big Brother is giving you a formal warning,” Big Brother said. “Further language or behaviour of this nature could lead to you being removed from the Big Brother house. Mickey, do you understand?”
Mickey replied: “Yes I do. It’s some serious stuff. I apologise. I don’t have dishonourable intentions. I’m just talking smack you know. I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.”
Mickey later apologised to JoJo for his actions. Luckily for him, she accepted the apology.
