Myleene Klass confirmed as first Dancing On Ice contestant ahead of new series

Myleene Klass has signed up to appear on the new series of Dancing On Ice which will air next year

The 42-year-old former pop star is set to join the ITV skating show which is presented by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Her signing has come as a surprise as it had been reported that she wanted to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking about joining the show, Myleene said: “I have a 13 year old daughter and a 9 year old daughter who are obsessed with ice skating.

“They both ice skate and I stand there and I hold the coats. That’s my role – to tie the shoelaces and hold the coats. Now it’s my turn to learn and I can’t wait!”

The radio presenter is the first of 11 to be announced for the show.

Myleene’s appearance on the show was announced on the official Dancing On Ice Instagram account on Sunday.

Former I’m A Celeb star Myleene shot to fame on Pop Idol in 2001 — forming part of the five-piece Hear’Say.

The news comes just after Myleene’s boyfriend Simon Motson popped the question to her earlier this month.

He had proposed after recreating their very first date, leaving her stunned.

Myleene, who shares one-year-old son Apollo with him, told Hello!: “When he got down on one knee and started fumbling around under the table, I thought he was joking.

“Then I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s for real’.”

Holly and Phillip will host, while ice skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are also expected to return.

Footballer Wayne Bridge and TOWIE icon Billie Faiers have reportedly signed up for the ice-skating show.

Show insiders told The Sun: “Dancing on Ice bosses are excited to bring in Billie after the success of her Towie co-star Gemma Collins. She’s set to bring fun energy to the show.

“Wayne amused fans in lockdown with his TikTok moves, now they’ll get to see how entertaining he is on the ice.”
