Strictly's Jamie Laing quits Made In Chelsea after 10 years on E4 show

Made In Chelsea ‘s long-standing cast member Jaime Laing has confirmed that he will be leaving the hit reality programme in a bid to focus on Strictly Come Dancing.

Jamie, 31, who has been partnered with Karen Hauer on the BBC favourite, admitted that he’s “taking a step back” from the E4 show to give his undivided attention to the dancing competition.

It seems he really wanted to give it his all this time, especially after he’d suffered an injury last year, that caused him to forfeit the competition, with Kelvin Fletcher snapping up his place.

Last year, Jamie had been paired with professional dancer Oti Mabuse, who went on to swoop up the Glitterball trophy alongside Emmerdale soap star Kelvin.

Speaking to the Sunday Times Style, Jamie showed that he was taking his commitments seriously this time around, leaving no room for error – which meant even giving up his 10-year role on the programme that lead to his fame.

In the tell-all interview, he said: “I am incredibly loyal towards [production company] Monkey Kingdom and Channel 4; a lot of people talk badly about reality shows and say they were shown in a bad light.

“Well, I was shown in a bad light, I was shown in a good light. I went on the most amazing holidays – I got paid to hang out with my friends.

“And I was on TV for 10 years I’d never say: ‘Hey, that’s me done’, but yes I am definitely taking a step back.”

After spending a decade on the E4 reality drama series, he took a walk down memory lane, recalling a totally different perception of himself compared to when he first touched on stardom.

He quipped: “I did Made In Chelsea for so long and at the beginning we thought we were famous, we were nothing!”

The McVities heir is in a relationship with on-screen co-star Sophie Habboo, with the reality starlet supporting her beau throughout his Strictly journey.

When Jamie had hurt his dance foot last year, Habboo reportedly was ready to “kill” Oti after learning her beau was in pain.

Jamie told the Daily Mail: “Last year when I got given my partner, and I told [Habbs] my foot had been hurt, she said ‘Which girl am I going to have to kill?'”

Over the years, Strictly has been tarnished for it’s dreaded showbiz “curse” which has seen many celebrity relationships end in tatters due to the demanding work schedule and sexy routines, causing quite a stir.

Even some of the strongest of unions have been shaken by the “curse” such a Louise and Jamie Redknapp, with nobody foreseeing that they would end their marriage after the Heavy Love songstress competed.
