Paul Burrell told Lorraine Kelly on Monday’s episode of her ITV show that one of Princess Diana ‘s requests for him was truly heartbreaking.
He said that the late royal had been left deeply upset by a gift from Camilla Parker-Bowles to Prince Charles after they got married in 1981.
Paul explained that Camilla gave Charles cufflinks with intertwined Cs on them, suggesting it was so Charles would never forget her.
He said that the memory of Charles’ alleged affair with Camilla, which started in 1986 according to his authorised biography, stuck with her.
And it was so difficult, that Diana asked him to remove and pick out any double-C logos from her clothes – despite it being a sign of the luxury fashion brand Chanel.

Paul said that Diana had told him that on her wedding day to Charles on July 29, 1981, she had been looking side to side as she walked down the aisle.
He recalled her telling him: “‘I’m looking for Camilla, I knew she would be there on my wedding day.'”
Paul went on: “Then, of course, on the honeymoon Diana found those cufflinks with the intertwined Cs and had an almighty row with her husband, and said, ‘What is this?’

“Well, of course it was a wedding gift from Camilla, so he would never forget her.”
He explained: “Intertwined Cs, from then on, I had to unpick all the intertwined Cs off her shoes, off her handbags.
“Of course, they were Chanel, most girls would die for that emblem, but not the Princess.
“She didn’t want to be reminded of that affair which she had to live with.”
Paul was on Lorraine to discuss the new series of Netflix smash hit The Crown, which features Diana in the new episodes.
Actress Emma Corrin is playing Diana in season four of The Crown, which dropped on Netflix yesterday (Sunday).
The new season covers a period of time between 1977 and 1990, with Diana and Charles’ wedding as well as their 1983 tour of Australia and New Zealand being included.
The show will also deal with the Falklands War, the break-in at Buckingham Palace, Lord Mountbatten’s funeral, Princess Diana’s iconic appearance at the Barnardo’s Champion Children Awards and her flight on Concorde in 1989.
