Lorraine Kelly fans were “offended” by an on-screen mistake that sparked a frenzy on social media.
Viewers from the North East of the UK were particularly annoyed that Yorkshire had been misspelled.
The banner read “Yorkhire”, instead of Yorkshire when showcasing Tom Cruise who was spotted in the historic county.
Taking to Twitter to pinpoint the faux pas, fans fumed: “#lorraine @reallorraine @lorraine as someone from the north east I’m offended by the way your pronounce Yorkshire … And also by the fact the person who types up the captions for the screen put “Yorkhire” and not Yorkshire.”
Another barked: “Seriously. Does nobody proofread at #Lorraine? Just have a quick glance after typing 7 words – not too much to ask, is it?”
While a third tweet read: “Yorkhire? York is not for hire! #Lorraine.”
As masses of tweets flooded in, Lorraine was forced to apologise to viewers for the embarrassing blunder.
She said: “So sorry to the people of Yorkshire we know how to spell Yorkshire,” before joking that it was due to a “slip of the typewriter” and that the person responsible would be “flogged”.
In spite of the TV error fans were pleased to have Lorraine back on their screens this week after Goor Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh stepped in to cover.
The Scottish starlet certainly made the most of her holiday leave and headed to the pub with family as they opened up in the UK amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sharing an adorable selfie with her daughter Rosie Kelly Smith as they sipped pints outside their local boozer.
In another post, Lorraine really seemed to be letting her hair down as she knocked back a alcoholic shot which was shared to her Instagram story.
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV
