Piers Morgan looks fed up and tired on solo coffee break after sudden GMB exit

Piers Morgan enjoyed a leisurely Friday this week, spending the morning by himself as he dined out at a local cafe.

The TV personality, 56, was seen looking glum as he nursed a coffee in the outdoor seating area of a London eatery, surfing through his phone as he sipped.

Later, the ex-GMB presenter ordered a takeaway smoothie from the cafe, picking up the container of red juice and walking home.

A far cry from his uniform of tailored suits on Good Morning Britain, Piers wore some comfy joggers, trainers and a navy pullover.

The presenter might find himself with more time on his hands since quitting his day job last month, saying goodbye to Good Morning Britain after six years on the show.

Piers quit on March 9 following a backlash over his coverage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, which resulted in over 50,000 Ofcom complaints.

Meghan even issued a formal complaint to ITV about his coverage of the interview, in particular concerning his treatment of comments she made about her battle with mental health.

Since leaving the morning news programme, Piers has been offered a job on rival channel GB News, which will be launched by Andrew Neil later this year.

GB News already poached former ITV news presenter Alastair Stewart, BBC’s Simon McCoy, and Sky Sports pundit Kirsty Gallacher for the network.

Meanwhile, Susanna Reid continues to be the sole remaining anchor on GMB, with a rotation of presenters like Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh taking Piers’ place in the hot seat.

Earlier this week, Piers admitted he still watches GMB, despite no longer featuring on the show, as he took to Twitter to comment on the latest instalment.

Tuesday’s episode saw Dr Hilary Jones confront pub landlord Rod Humphris, who recently chucked Keir Starmer out of his boozer after accusing him of “failing this country” as the opposition leader.

Praising his former co-star, Piers wrote: “Brilliant work by @DrHilaryJones, exposing that gobby publican for the callous ill-informed halfwit that he is.”

The broadcaster then headed home with a smoothie in one hand

Since Piers’ exit, ITV boss Kevin Lygo has since confirmed he will not be replaced on the show, branding the outspoken host as a “special thing”.

He told Deadline: “We have a roster of presenters, including Ben Shephard, Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins, and Kate Garraway.

“They’re all stepping up and doing a few more days than they would have done… We’ll mix and match until we feel what the right thing is to do. There isn’t a single person who can replace him.”
