Mariah Carey has reportedly dropped a bombshell on Jay-Z’s management company Roc Nation after a huge row allegedly broke out between her and the rapper which caused her to quit the firm.
Singer Mariah, 52, reportedly clashed with rapper Jay Z, 51, during a tense meeting between the two over the future of Mariah’s career which took a turn for the worse.
The explosive argument then prompted Mariah to quit the management firm which Jay-Z owns and runs – three and a half years after Mariah initially signed a deal with the company which has helped Jay-Z become a billionaire in recent years.
A source close to the situation revealed to The Sun: “Mariah and Jay had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all. She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation.
“She will formally depart in the next few weeks.
“It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse.”
Mariah has also been talking to other managers and planning her next moves, the source claims, and is currently finishing a heavily R&B-influenced record.
The source said: “Mariah has been talking to other managers and thinks she has found someone who she feels has full belief in her as she takes her next steps.
“There is a heavily R&B- influenced album being finalised at the moment and she is planning a world tour for next year, so she isn’t letting this stand in her way.”
Mariah, who has already been removed from the list of acts represented by Jay-Z’s company, first signed with Roc Nation back in November 2017.
Since then, she has released her 30th anniversary album, The Rarities, as well as a New York Times bestselling memoir called The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
The star finally reached Number One in the UK with her classic Christmas track, All I Want For Christmas, 26 years after it first came out.
She has also bagged a deal with Apple TV+ for a festive special.
She is also set to feature on a new song called Somewhat Loved by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
Roc Nation has worked with a whole host of top-billing pop artists including Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Rowland and Megan Thee Stallion.
