Breaking Bad star Bob Odenkirk says he will 'be OK' after on-set heart attack

Breaking Bad star Bob Odenkirk has offered fans an update on his health after collapsing on set of show spin-off, Better Call Saul.

The 58-year-old was in the middle of shooting a scene when he took ill and had to be immediately attended to by crew members.

He was rushed to an Albuquerque hospital via ambulance, and according to TMZ was not conscious during the early hours spent in the hospital.

But now the star is lucid and has spoken out on his recovery progress, confirming that he had suffered a “small heart attack”.

Bob took to Twitter on Friday to post: “Hi, it’s Bob. Thank you to my family and friends who have surrounded me this week.

“And for the outpouring of love from everyone who expressed concern and care for me. It’s overwhelming. But I feel the love and it means so much.”

He explained: “I had a small heart attack. But I’m going to be OK thanks to [crew member] Rosa Estrada and the doctors who knew how to fix the blockage without surgery.

“Also, AMC and SONY’s support and help throughout this has been next-level. I’m going to take a beat to recover but I’ll be back soon.”

Bob’s rep told TMZ at the time of his collapse: “Bob and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side.

“The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”

Fans offered Bob plenty of messages of support on social media, with actor Ben Stiller joining the fray to post: “So happy you’re on the mend Bob.”

More fans penned: “Thank you for the candid update, Bob. What you do goes far beyond acting. You’re the respite at the end of a long day as an entertainer.

“You connect and make our evenings much better. Many thanks and can’t wait for the final Saul ride. As Arnold would say, stick around!”

As someone else wrote: “I was so worried, thank you for tweeting this!”

“Take your time, man. Everyone appreciates all the comedy & art you’ve given us through the years. Better you take the time to get better than to get right back on the wheel. Be well. Take it (very) easy,” a third fan echoed.
