I'm A Celeb fans baffled as they spot format shake-up in new series premiere

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! fans were left baffled on Sunday night, as they spotted a confusing shake-up to the show’s format in the 2021 series premiere.

As the celebs headed for North Wales’ Gwrych Castle for the first time via helicopter, hosts Ant and Dec were busy hosting from live on the night.

But fans on social media quickly pointed out that something had definitely changed during the live segments, which as usual are sandwiched between pre-recorded VTs of the celebs completing Bushtucker Trials and meeting one another.

Eagle-eyed viewers at home noticed that the ‘LIVE’ font in the bottom left corner of the screen appeared to be larger than in previous series.

Writing on Twitter, one fan posted: “Is it me or is the live text bigger this year? #ImACeleb.”

Another followed up sarcastically: “Can someone tell me, is this LIVE?! #ImACeleb.”

Others, however, believed the show format was in desperate need of a change – as they pointed out the same opening credits had been used since its inception.

Someone posted: “All the money thrown at this show and they still haven’t changed the f***ing opening titles!”

As another ranted: “Another new series, and still the same opening titles! It’s about time we had a change now I think.”

“Time to redo the opening titles with drizzle and cloud?” someone else suggested, as a fourth fan chimed in: “Still the same old titles. They’ve been using them since Big Brother was still airing – on Channel 4!”

Elsewhere on the programme, the celebs were flown in by helicopter to face their first challenge, and forced to walk the plank once more.

The first celebrity to hit the button with their foot when their light turned green was assigned to the winning team, while the loser was dropped into the air to hang by their harness.

And many fans were simply pleased to see the show return to our TV screens, as one posted: “Yay, I’m A Celeb time! I’m so looking forward to this.”

“Snoochie’s so funny, I love her already!” another posted of campmate Snoochie Shy.

As another fan followed up: “Yassss I absolutely love I’m A Celeb!”

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV.
