Phillip Schofield returns to This Morning as he leaves isolation after getting Covid

Phillip Schofield has returned to This Morning after testing positive for coronavirus.

The 59-year-old presenter had been forced to skip hosting This Morning and Dancing on Ice and admitted he was “bored out of his brain” while locked away in his home after testing positive for Covid seven days in a row.

However, his luck changed on Monday afternoon after he finally produced a negative lateral flow test.

He also got a follow-up negative on Tuesday, meaning that he could leave isolation and return to work.

Holly Willoughby welcomed her pal back to the studio with open arms and admitted she had “missed” him.

Phillip went on to explain to Holly and viewers at home about what he got up too while in isolation.

The host revealed that he’s “been fine” and kept himself busy by cleaning and binge-watching loads of box sets.

Holly wasn’t the only one excited to have Phillip back on the ITV daytime show.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Welcome back Phillip Schofield! Looking great!!”

Another added: “Yay! Phillip is back!”

A third person posted: “Phil & Holly. Dream Team.”

While a fourth social media user said: “Phil and Holly are back”

It comes after Phillip lifted the lid on his coronavirus isolation during another phone-in on This Morning.

As the ITV star called in from his London home to Monday’s instalment, Holly said: “We obviously missed you hugely on Dancing on Ice. That was so weird. I’ve never ever done that show with anyone else apart from you.”

Phillip replied saying he was “absolutely perfectly okay”.

He added: “A week ago I had a slightly scratchy throat for an hour which prompted me to test and it came up positive and it’s been positive ever since – but I feel great.

“”’ve ploughed my way through box sets, I’ve been cooking, I’ve been wandering around thinking what should I do next, I’ve sat in the garden for about half an hour because the sun came out, but I’m locked in.”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
