Danielle Lloyd opens up about her breakdown during lockdown and turning to alcohol

Danielle Lloyd has admitted turning to alcohol to help her cope with the stresses of lockdown during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 38-year-old reality star, who has previously opened up about her mental health struggles in 2014 following her split with ex-husband Jamie O’Hara, confessed that things got hard to handle as she had to adjust to homeschooling and life in lockdown she found herself turning to alcohol.

Speaking in an exclusive chat with Daily Star, Danielle revealed how things got tough with the monotony of being stuck at home 24/7 so she began day drinking.

She said: “Through lockdown, I felt fine, like felt like I was coping ok, then the next minute it just hit me like a tonne of bricks, I was broke down, I was like I’m not ok, this is really hard.

“I started drinking, it would get to like 12 o’clock and I’d be like ‘Oh my god,can we open a bottle of wine yet? This is so boring, I cant handle homeschooling these kids any longer. It’s lunchtime. it’s fine’.”

Danielle then elaborated on how she turned to her doctor for help when she recognised the signs of depression creeping in because of her past experience.

She continued: “I just felt like there were so many people relying on me it was just so much pressure.

“Luckily I felt like because of what’s happened to me in the past with mental health before I was able to just open up and speak to my doctor straight away and get the help I needed.”

She then admitted that her advice to anyone in a similar position is just to seek help as soon as possible.

She added: “That’s the most important thing. When you are feeling down, make sure that you just speak to someone and tell them that you need the help.”

Danielle then confessed that whilst she felt she had to be prepared for the worst when she was nearing her due date with her baby daughter, she has been feeling fabulous since she arrived.

“So I’ve actually got my tablets sitting there waiting in case I feel down or whatever, but I’ve been feeling absolutely amazing to be honest. I’m all good.”
