Oscar-nominated actress Sally Kellerman who starred in war drama M*A*S*H as Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ Houlihan has died.
The 84-year-old died in the early hours of Thursday morning at an assisted care facility in Los Angeles, according to her son Jack Krane.
The actress was diagnosed with dementia around 2017 and reportedly her battle against it in the last couple of years was tough, reports TMZ.
Her son Jack saw the famous Oscar nominee star for the final time on Wednesday night.
It was made clear to him at the time that his mother wasn’t well and he made his final goodbyes.
The star famously appeared in Robert Altman’s 1970’s M*A*S*H movie as well as the 1986 comedy Back to School, opposite Rodney Dangerfield.

Sally also appeared in several shows on the small screen including The Outer Limits, 12 O’Clock High, That Girl and Mannix.
The actress also did voice over work for ads and and was involved in many animated films including Hidden Valley Ranch dressing.
Sally however was best known for her iconic M*A*S*H role, which stood for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital.
She explained in 2010 how she had learnt to accept that she was famous for that role.
She said: “There were times in my life when I felt I had to go out and prove that I’m not just Hot Lips. But at this point, just call me anything you want.”

The show which the film was based off produced a massive 256 episodes between 1972 and 1983 and became one of the most successful sitcoms.
Sally was married twice, first in 1970 to 1972 to Starky & Hutch writer and director Rick Edlestein.
She tied the knot a second time in 1980 to Face/Off producer Jonathan Krane, who died of a heart attack in 2016 at the age of 64.
