Meghan Markle and Harry show 'lack of empathy if they attend Beckham wedding'

PR specialist Paul MacKenzie-Cummins believes Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle will not regain the trust of the British public if they choose to attend Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s wedding ceremony.

The royal couple, who recently missed Prince Philip’s memorial service in March due to concerns regarding their security, has set the rumour mill into overdrive as sources claim they may attend the star-studded wedding on Saturday (April 9).

Talking exclusively to Daily Star, PR specialist Paul believes this will be a wrong move for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

He said: “Harry and Meghan opted not to attend [the memorial], citing ‘security concerns’ as the reason.

“Yet, they have no compunction in attending a celebrity-led wedding where the groom is marrying the daughter of a billionaire in Florida. It’s bol*ocks, quite frankly.

“A few months ago, the couple claimed they wished to regain the public’s trust.

“Their actions suggest the opposite is true. What they really want, it seems, is to live a Great Gatsbyesque life where the media attention is always shining on them and they can live out a lavish life with their celebrity and influential friends.”

The publicist added: “Here we have a couple seemingly incapable of reading the room, and a distinct lack of empathy in favour of their own celebrity.”

Highlighting the importance of Prince Philip’s memorial service, Paul also made reference to the fact the funeral which took place in 2021 was saddening due to the queen being seated by herself.

Although Harry did attend the funeral last year, the memorial was a chance for the family to celebrate the Duke of Edinburgh’s life properly without covid restrictions.

Paul added: “In the weeks leading up to the memorial, the public became increasingly angry when it came to light that government ministers broke their own restrictions and enjoyed an evening of celebrations on the eve of the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

“The Queen’s isolated figure that day was deeply saddening and maddening at the same time. She became at one with the people as she shared the pain of solitude in having to bury her husband in relative seclusion.

“It is a heart-breaking image and one that touched so many people in the lead up to the memorial – an event that served to bring together the Royal family and remember the passing of Prince Philip in a way that wasn’t possible before because of the restrictions in place at the time.”

A number of Victoria and David’s close pal is expected to be present to see their son marry the billionaire heiress on Saturday.

Those on the guestlist include Gordon Ramsay, Eva Longoria and the Spice Girls.
