After nine years of playing roguish Mick Carter on EastEnders, Danny Dyer has announced he is going to give acting lessons.
The telly star revealed he has not renewed his contract with the BBC soap and instead is going to become a drama teacher.
Danny, 44, has signed up to an online school with fellow EastEnders legend Charlie Brooks to give masterclasses to wannabe actors who are hoping to get their big break in the industry.
The company, called I Am Pro, costs £30 a month and since it was revealed that Danny was on board membership is said to have soared.
Danny’s new career is one of the first jobs he’s lined up since announcing his departure from the BBC hit soap.
The Human Traffic star has assured fans that his reason for leaving the soap is not because has not “fallen out with anybody” in Walford and that he “loves” the cast.
Speaking to The Mirror, the dad of three said: “That job has been amazing for me. It’s an important part of television. I’m grateful for the beautiful years I’ve had there. I’m going to miss the people massively. It’s me taking a risk.”
Danny went on to say that Mick’s exit will be “powerful” and he hopes that the “door will be left open” for him to return if he wants to.
He added: “When I go out there and fail miserably, I can come back with my tail between my legs and go, ‘Will you take me back?’”
Danny’s final scenes are expected to be filmed this summer but details of his explosive exit are still under wraps.
He has, however, hinted to the Duchess of Cornwall that his departure may not be permanent.
During a royal visit on the set, he told her “I used to make movies before moving into soap-land, but I’m leaving this year… Maybe I will come back, who knows.
The Duchess then asked Danny about his exit from the soap and what his storyline might comprise of, to which he replied: “Tune in, it’s going to be a big one.”
