Inside final days of Paddy and Christine McGuinness' marriage spent at Center Parcs

Paddy McGuinness and his wife Christine have announced that they are separating after 15 years together.

The announcement came just three hours after Paddy had shared a cheerful post about their family holiday, in which they took their three children to Center Parcs.

Paddy and Christine have advocated tirelessly for autism awareness throughout their relationship and enjoyed a “autism friendly” time away with the kids.

However, their precious time together was soon soured after they were forced to make a premature announcement of their split.

Keep reading to take a look inside the last few days of their relationship and the rumours surrounding their separation.

Family Fun

The pair took their children away together despite their differences

Paddy and Christine were planning to take their children abroad, but an unfortunate revelation kept the family in the UK.

Paddy shared on Instagram: “Yes, we finally got away for our family holiday! After discovering – three days before we were due to fly – that our youngest daughter’s passport had expired, our holiday to Spain had to be cancelled.

“We’d been telling the kids all about it, especially the airport part, so to suddenly change plans wasn’t easy! Mums and Dads with autistic children will know exactly what I mean.”

He went on to explain that the couple “luckily” found the last available lodge at Centre Parcs, which he “booked straight away”.

They stayed in a “large tree house” which the children “absolutely loved” and resulted in a “full week of activities,” which helped them uncover their kids’ “hidden talents” of “scaling the indoor climbing walls”.

The proud father was happy that the kids had “so much fun” and the family even met another child with autism during their stay.

He recommended the Nottingham Centre location as the “staff were great,” families can “chill out” or “dive into the activities” and the place “even had its own beach”.

All seemed well with the McGuinness family as he urged his 2 million followers that they will “definitely go back there”.

However, just hours later an Instagram story shared to his profile shook fans and confirmed the news they had been dreading.

Paddy wrote: “We hadn’t planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready, but after the lack of privacy surrounding our personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify. A while ago, we [made] the difficult decision to separate, but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.”

He continued on: “This was not an easy decision to make, but we’re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children. We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together.”

Paddy ended the message by saying that he hoped his clarification will “draw a line under any more unwanted and unnecessary intrusion into their private life,” as although the parents “work in the public eye,” they wish for “privacy on the matter” and will be “making no further comment”.

Rumours abounded

The reason behind their split was not clarified by the couple, but they were recently hit with allegations that Paddy cheated on Christine.

While Christine filmed for The Games, it was alleged that Paddy had kissed another woman.

A source told The Sun: “The crew all knew about the Paddy rumours and there they were, now working really closely with Christine. Paddy wasn’t around at all during The Games and the more people got to know Christine, the more they felt she deserved to know what he had been up to.”

Daily Star has reached out to the couple’s representatives for a comment and Christine’s said that she was “dealing with her marriage in private”.

Prior to their family holiday, Christine had appeared on Lorraine and spoke to stand-in presenter Carol Vorderman about their upcoming trip.

When asked about their relationship, Christine admitted that marriages “go up and down” and that it won’t always be “plain sailing” – perhaps a subtle hint of things to come.
