Before Douglas became a jet setting TV presenter, she had a successful dancing career and starred in many big name productions.
Scarlette has been involved in musicals such as Hairspray and Jesus Christ Superstar, choreographed for The Avengers and Gulliver’s Travels and starred in BRIT Award performances.
Throughout her career, Scarlette was also a backing dancer for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway Tour, but oddly enough it was an interview with the pair that truly kick started her love for presenting.
In an interview with The Mirror, Scarlette said that she was “only presenting because of the duo” and recalled her interview with the pair.
Douglas revealed: “Randomly, I was a backing dancer on the Saturday Night Takeaway arena tour, and I remember a couple of nights before the final night I had asked if I could interview them. They were so kind, they said: ‘Yeah, absolutely.’”
She continued: “I had a presenting agent at the time, just from presenting competitions, but me actually getting to interview Ant and Dec was amazing because the guys are brilliant.
“They were really complimentary of my presenting skills, so to speak, back then – although I didn’t have any.”
She said that the boys told her to “focus on her career” as they saw she “clearly had a knack for it” and urged her to ask them for “help in any way” as they’d “love to”.
The Geordie duo then helped Scarlette get her foot on the ladder and arranged meetings with agents and production companies to set her on the right track.
Scarlette “did go and have the meetings” and they “gave her a lot of really good advice,” some of which helped her brother out too.
Due to their expertise in property development, she managed to land a role on A Place In The Sun and the brother-sister powerhouse also now present Worst House on the Street together.
I’m A Celebrity airs nightly on ITV and ITV Hub at 9pm
