Pete Doherty says he was hospitalised after 'biting through Christmas lights wire'

Pete Doherty has recalled being hospitalised after he bit through a wire of fairy lights during the Christmas period while growing up.

The Libertines frontman, 43, remains relatively guarded about his private life nowadays but shared the candid admission just days before Christmas.

During an appearance on Never Mind the Christmas Buzzcocks, Pete revealed that the terrifying incident left a lasting mark on his appearance.

The rockstar may have endured the incident decades ago but Pete says his hair was left completely different after he gave himself quite the shock.

He told the panel: “When I was a toddler I remembered I chewed through a wire from Christmas lights.

“I kind of spontaneously combusted or something and I had to go to the hospital.”

“When I came back I had a big white streak in my hair,” he revealed.

However, it appears that Pete’s luck didn’t change after the terrifying ordeal as he went on to explain a similar situation that occurred just years later.

“Four years later I electrocuted myself under the fridge as well, but that was New Year I think,” he recalled.

Pete’s appearance on the hit show comes after he is believed to have announced to fans that he and his wife Katia de Vidas are expecting his third child.

The star who already has two children from previous relationships married Katia in September 2021, having already been in a relationship since 2012.

It’s believed he told audience members at his gig in Strasbourg earlier this month, leaving the packed crowd overjoyed.

A source said: “They were happily talking about the news with fans after the show who waited behind to speak to them.”

It comes after the pair secretly tied the know in September 2021, just two days after they confirmed they had become engaged.

The news of him tying the knot came from Katia’s cousin Julia Mallet, who confirmed on social media that the couple had officially exchanged vows.

She shared a stunning snap of Katia dazzling in a wedding dress, and penned: “When you find out your cousin got married overnight!! Congratulations Katia and Pete Doherty!!”

The couple currently live together in France where Pete is living a much more sedate lifestyle.

Their love story initially began in 2005 when the pair met at Katia’s 31st birthday party, with Pete remarking afterwards that he had “really found love”.

But things haven’t always been smooth sailing, as the couple briefly decided to end things when Pete failed to complete a rehabilitation programme in Arizona.
