Freddie Flintoff boasted he enjoys danger just weeks before his horror crash.
The Top Gear presenter, 45, is lucky to be alive after the smash – but in October the former England cricket ace admitted it is a thrill to do madcap stunts.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: “I find myself in these positions where I’m strapped in and I think, ‘How on earth have I got involved in something like this?’

“I’m not sure I can do it at the time – but I really enjoy that. My mindset is, ‘I’m here, I’m doing it, it’s going to happen… I’ll see what happens’.

“You piece it together afterwards and think, ‘I’ve probably got away with another one’.”
Freddie also vowed to continue with his crazy antics for years to come and said: “I’m all right for the time being. I’m fine.”
Freddie’s crash at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey on Tuesday was so serious he had to be airlifted to hospital.
Filming for the new series of BBC’s Top Gear has been paused while he recovers and is surrounded by his family.

The dad-of-four was behind the wheel when the incident occurred, with medics at the venue rushing to his aid.
He was at the Top Gear test track alongside co-hosts Chris Harris and Take Me Out presenter Paddy McGuinness.
At the time, a source explained that Freddie wasn’t driving at high speeds and that the accident could have “happened to anyone”.
The source went on to explain to The Sun: “All the usual health and safety measures were in place for filming too. Freddie was taken to hospital by air ambulance shortly afterwards.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the show said: “Our primary concern is and has been for the welfare of Freddie – as well as the Top Gear team.
“All health and safety procedures were followed on site and the incident is now being fully investigated, in line with standard policy and practice.”

This isn’t the first time things have taken a turn for the worse during filming as earlier this year, the trio found themselves “lucky to be alive” after being caught in a deadly storm.
At the time, health and safety advisors warned the presenters to scrap a stunt involving a HGV lorry because of the extreme weather.
But they went ahead anyway, risking their lives in the process.
The incident comes just three years after he crashed in a three-wheel car at 124mph.
Other stunts he has taken on include a bungee jump in a Rover 100 convertible off a 500ft dam in Switzerland.
