Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'refuse to foot security bill' for UK visits, says expert

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are refusing to return to the UK over the fact they would have to foot the bill for their security, an expert has claimed.

Simon Newton who previously worked as a bodyguard for Michael Jackson claims that the Sussexes would be forced to cover the extensive cost of their protection.

Harry and Meghan have on several occasions claimed that they were stripped of their security after stepping down as working members of The Royal Family.

The couple claims this caused them distress due to the death threats and abuse Meghan faced by members of the public.

Now, Simon has exclusively revealed his thoughts on the topic, explaining: “They can come to the UK, the problem is it costs money, I think that’s the problem with them – who’s paying the bill?

“If the Royal Family aren’t paying the bill and they won’t give them police protection, they’re saying ‘we can’t come for security reasons’ – it’s not quite right, I’d say you can’t come because you don’t want to pay the bill.

“I would think it’s more likely because you can pay yourself for armed police officers, they won’t look everybody, it’s circumstantial but if you are someone who needs armed protection, I’m sure it costs a fortune but the diplomatic police group will provide officers at a cost.”

Simon added: “I’m more than sure that they’re two people who quite easily fit the bracket if they wanted to pay to have armed officers with them.

“To say they can’t come because of security, I’d say you don’t want to come because no one’s going to pay for your security is more likely.”

“There’s no major threat on them, as far as we know,” he commented, before adding: “It’s a very expensive thing for people like them, hundreds of thousands for a visit.

“They are who they are, you either pay it or you don’t come and I think they’ve chosen to not come. How much do you want to come? You’d find [the money] if you want to come.”

Harry previously said he couldn’t bring his children Archie and Lilibet to the UK after he and Meghan had their “security pulled”, with a spokesperson for the Duke saying: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed whilst in the U.K.

“In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home,” due to the “security risk” he inherited at birth.

A spokesperson for Prince Harry was approached for comment ahead of publication.
