BGT star hits out at Bruno Tonioli and says he ‘isn’t a good fit’ as ITV judge

Britain’s Got Talent’s Francine Lewis has shared her thoughts on the new judging panel of the show.

This year, David Walliams has been replaced by Bruni Tonioli, but Francine isn’t sure it’s a “good fit”.

The TV impressionist, 47, first shot to fame on the 2013 series of the show after she nailed a bunch of celebrity impersonations.

Talking about her experience on the show, Francine exclusively told us: “The whole panel was so lovely, they were the nicest. I am gutted David isn’t there anymore, to me he worked so well with Simon [Cowell].”

Strictly Come Dancing star Bruno has joined the regular ranks of Simon, Alesha Dixon, and Amanda Holden.

She added: “The problem is the reason why I don’t think he will work is that we know Bruno from Strictly Come Dancing and he’s just not BGT – he’s really not.

“Alan Carr was up for it, which I think would have been better.”

Francine then put herself up for the role and said she would’ve “loved” to have the position.

The TV star said: “We could’ve all been like Charlie’s Angels, but called Simon’s Angels, that would be a job I would have loved.

“I’ve been doing talent shows since I was 11, I’ve been in two big ITV talent shows and you should have someone on the panel who has been through it, like where that’s how they’ve got through their career, through talent shows, I’d have been a perfect judge.

“I just want to be Simon’s angel,” she laughed.

The beauty also revealed that her BGT performance caused a few bumps in the road when it came to her friendship with Katie Price, 44, after she mimicked her on stage.

The judges were impressed, but according to Francine, Katie was less so.

So much so that she went sailing through to the live shows where she thinks she may have “taken things a little too far”.

She explained: “I maybe pushed it a little bit too far on the final, I don’t think she liked it, put it that way…

“I’ve got nothing against Katie, she was at my wedding, I was at her wedding…

“I think she’s got the most gorgeous children, Princess and Junior are absolutely gorgeous and so polite. I know Pete [Andre] has a big part in that as well.”
