BBC Breakfast fans beg bosses for presenter switch-up as rarely-seen star joins show

BBC Breakfast viewers were all left saying the same thing after a familiar face returned to the famous red sofa alongside co-host Ben Thompson.

The hit BBC One show was back on TV screens on (Sunday 23) for the latest rundown of the biggest headlines in the news.

And joining was none other than reporter Sarah Campbell.

And it appears fans watching the show at home were left equally as excited to see Sarah, with plenty flooding to Twitter to share their sweet messages for the presenter.

“Great team on the big red sofa this morning,” gushed one follower.

A familar face stepped in to co-host the show

Echoing their thoughts, someone else called for Sarah to take on a permanent role on the show. They penned: “Morning Sarah, great to see you again on our screens, looking as gorgeous as ever. Hope it’s going to be a regular appearance.

A third chimed in and gushed: “Love the hair” and another wrote: “It’s nice to wake up to a warm, smiley, happy face with Sarah.”

Fans were over the moon to see Sarah

Sarah has been working at the BBC for nearly 20 decades – and recently was elevated to the role of anchor alongside Ben earlier this year.

Whereas Ben has worked on the show for 10 years. But In December 2021, be announced that he would move on from BBC Breakfast after a decade in the job – and would only return for special weekend episodes.

In view of his 43,000 followers, Ben said: “I’m hanging up my @BBCBreakfast hard hat and hi-vis in the New Year, so here’s a little thread of some of my ten years on the road, getting access to some of the most interesting and amazing businesses, and taking you with us.

“Starting out was terrifying but I quickly learned that you’re in safe hands with the brilliant @BBCBreakfast team. We moved from Television Centre in London to MediaCity in Salford in 2012.”

Since then, he has regularly made appearances on BBC Breakfast – often filling in for the regular hosts when needed.
