Home and Away star Georgie Parker is taking an extended break from the soap as she heads to the theatre stage.
The actress has portrayed Roo Stewart since 2010, taking over from Justine Clarke who quit the role in 1989.
Confirming her departure is only temporary, the 58-year-old revealed she has no plans to leave the show for good.

Her decision to remain in Summer Bay is heavily revolved around Ray Meagher, who has played Georgie’s on-screen father, Alf Stewart, on and off since the programme’s first episode in 1988.
”Honestly, while Ray’s there I wouldn’t leave because my character is his daughter, and my storyline revolves around him,” Georgie told Yahoo Lifestyle.
Fans, who have been devastated by Paddy O’Connor and Sophie Dillman’s departures, can breathe a sigh of relief as it’s clear they don’t want to see the character leave.
One pleaded online: “Please don’t leave, you are a great actor. Everyone loves you at Summer Bay so don’t leave.”
A second shared: “Love Georgie. She is a wonderful actress and it is her character, along with Alf, Irene, John and Marilyn that are the absolute mainstay of Home and Away.
While another chimed in: “I love Georgie Parker, it [wouldn’t] be the same without you.”
The brunette beauty will be taking a seven-week break to star in the play, Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica and admitted she feels “very fortunate” that she is able to embark on other projects as well as Home and Away.
She told the publication: “I’m very fortunate that [producers] are very flexible, and they let me go to do other things which is very important for me. I’m very, very grateful for it”.
During Friday’s episode (June 8), Roo resisted Marilyn’s attempts to become a brand ambassador for Stunning Organics and offered to buy a product instead.
But things took a turn for the worst when Roo experienced a burning sensation after putting on a face mask, forcing Bree to take her to the hospital.
