From private messaging the contestants to “feeling a connection” with some of the show’s biggest stars, Daily Star haslooked at the show’s A-list Love Island fan club.
Margot Robbie
Believe it or not, even Hollywood superstar Margot Robbie can’t resist the allure of Love Island.
In a candid interview during last year’s series, the A-list celebrity spilled the tea on her obsession with the series, just like the rest of us.
Sharing her favorite Islander, Margot enthusiastically expressed: “Paige (Thorne) has probably been my favourite – but for pure entertainment, I think Davide and Ekin-Su have made the season.”
But Margot’s love for Love Island goes beyond being a dedicated viewer.
In an interview with Vogue UK, the 32-year-old actress took her fandom to the next level.
She proudly showed off her Love Island drink bottle during the interview, displaying her admiration for the show with a touch of flair.
Margot also delved into her profound fascination with the dynamics of the male ego on Love Island.
She revealed: “If I went to university, I’d write a thesis about the male ego on Love Island. I’m really interested in the whole alpha male dynamic, and you can see it whether you’re watching a pack of lions or Love Island or a Scorsese gangster film.”
And Margot’s fangirling moments don’t stop there.
At the London premiere of her superhero film Birds of Prey, she couldn’t contain her excitement when she had the chance to meet stars from Love Island’s 2019 season.
In an interview with the Daily Star Sunday in 2018, she exclaimed: “I won’t know what to do when Love Island finishes. I mean, what will I watch? It’s literally the most addictive thing on TV ever.”
Millie Bobby Brown
Millie Bobby Brown, the star of Stranger Things, has shown her enthusiastic support for Love Island and even sent some of the cast messages online.
Former contestants, including Amber Gill and Dani Dyer have revealed that Millie reached out to them via direct messages to have a chat.
During Millie’s recent press tour for her movie Enola Holmes, where she acted alongside Henry Cavill, it was revealed that she kept Henry updated on all the latest Love Island happenings during their time working together.
In an interview with Extra, Henry disclosed, “Whether I wanted it or not, I was getting a thorough Love Island update every day in the makeup and hair trailer.
“She definitely kept me posted on that, and she was also trying to convince me to do TikTok videos with her.”
Additionally, former Love Island contestant Greg O’Shea claimed that Millie contacted him after his appearance on the show. However, he mentioned that she unfollowed him shortly afterward.
Greg revealed during an episode of the Six O’Clock Show in Ireland: “I don’t know if you want to tell Jon Bon Jovi’s son, but she slid into my DMs.
“She did. It happened when I gained my 15 seconds of fame after Love Island. She messaged me.”
Lena Dunham
Lena Dunham didn’t just tweet about her discovery of Love Island UK during her summer in Wales. Instead, she took it a step further by crafting an entire opinion piece for The Guardian.
Dunham hailed Love Island UK as a “cultural touchstone that dominates summers in the United Kingdom.”
She delved into her personal connection with some of the Islanders, expressing how she found relatability in their experiences.
“I’ve kept my love for Love Island mostly under wraps until now. But to truly grasp why I was so drawn to it, you need to understand the period I’ve been through.
“Nineteen months ago, I emerged from my first significant relationship, facing a public breakup that, while not as intense as Amy’s (Hart), left me feeling like Amber when Michael unexpectedly returned to the villa with Joanna,” Dunham disclosed.
During a recent interview with Cosmopolitan UK, Dunham admitted that she would be “tempted” to participate in a celebrity edition of Love Island.
As an avid supporter of Maura Higgins, she became so invested in the show last year that she shared the infamous “Maura as the Virgin Mary” meme.
Alongside the meme, she tweeted, “‘Like Maura, I want a partner who can match me, not a coward who thinks I’m OTT, cringey, and an attention seeker! Team Maura.'”
Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen jumped on the Love Island UK bandwagon back in late 2019 but admitted having a little trouble figuring out what the contestants were saying.
She took to Twitter to vent her frustrations, saying: “I not only need captions for Love Island UK, but I need them BIGGER! And can we please play the show at half speed, like a podcast? Help a girl out, @hulu, I’m dying to understand!”
She couldn’t help but spill the tea on her journey through the series. She even finished season one in 2019 and got all sad reading those couple updates online.
And even though she’s not watching in real time, she still managed to drop some hilarious comments on the 2020 series.
She compared Jessica Gale to none other than Ja’mie King from Ja’mie: Private School Girl.
Paris Hilton
Reality TV royalty herself, Paris Hilton made headlines in 2018 after tweeting in support of Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham upon winning the show.
“Thankyou so much,” Dyer replied.
“Thankyou for all your support! Can’t believe you’re tweeting us.” But her exchange with Chloe Burrows wasn’t so harmonious, after admitting she had been blocked by the star.
“I’m blocked by Paris Hilton,” she exclaimed to the girls in the dressing room. “I’m blocked by Paris Hilton and I don’t even know why. I can’t see any of her tweets or anything,” she added.
“I love her! I don’t think I would have ever done anything wrong,” she stressed on Unseen Bits.
“I really don’t think I’d ever have done anything [to her], but obviously I did.”
Stormzy
Fans were in for a massive surprise when none other than host Maya Jama’s ex Stormzy made a jaw-dropping guest appearance, just a few days after causing a frenzy with his tweets about Olivia Attwood.
The music sensation is a major fan of this spicy show, and he got to live out his dreams by making a cameo via video link.
The islanders were left completely gobsmacked when a video message popped up on their screen.
Chris, Kem Cetinay, and Marcel Somerville were in the midst of rehearsing their boyband performance for the talent show when the TV screen lit up with Stormzy’s face.
Naturally, the group huddled around the screen, their jaws dropping in sheer disbelief.
But it was time for Stormzy to experience a cringe moment of his own when Olivia appeared right in front of the camera, giving him a friendly greeting.
The star couldn’t help but cover his face with his hands, exclaiming, “Oh, Liv! No hard feelings!”
But we’ve no doubt the star is tempted to tune in as his gorgeous ex, Maya Jama returns to front the series and dazzle fans with her stunning looks.
Amy Schumer
Hollywood comic Amy Schumer spilled the beans on her love for the insanely popular show and even pledged her undying allegiance to the fiery Islander, Maura Higgins.
Amy also made a special appearance on the spin-off show Aftersun.
In a video message, Amy gushed:, “I am seriously loving this season of Love Island. And I gotta give a massive shoutout to my girl Maura. She’s like my bestie, and I feel such a strong connection with her.”
Amy even filmed a hilarious video imitating life as a Love Island cast member for the show’s reunion.
The star tried her hand at the British accent as she was seen lying in bed with sunglasses on and drinking from a Love Island water bottle.
In the Skit, she said: “can I just say from me Amy Schumer I love Love Island.
“You got to lay in bed, you wake up with your sunglasses on because you don’t have make-up on yet and then you keep it natural throughout the day babes.
While applying make-up the star continued: “How do you guys not sweat? Like sweat so much, If I was there I would be sweating so much.”
Liam Gallagher
None other than the living legend himself, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has proclaimed his love for the show.
In a special chat with Chris Moyles back in 2021, the Oasis icon spilled the beans on why he finds the reality dating show so darn addictive.
“I’m hooked on it, man. I watch it every single night,” Liam confessed.
“I don’t quite understand the part where they have to sleep on the floor outside, but you know what? I just love how rubbish it is. It’s bloody daft, innit? I don’t gain any knowledge or insights from it. It’s just on, and I’m into it.”
But what’s the secret to truly embracing Love Island? According to the Rock ‘N’ Roll Star himself, it’s all about committing from the early days.
Liam explained, “It’s not my choice, it’s all down to Debbie. We only have one TV in the house, and she calls the shots when it comes to that. So, when there’s no football on, it’s Debbie’s TV time.”
Liam also believes there are plenty of guys out there who are secretly grateful for Love Island’s existence.
“You have no idea what you’re missing out on, mate. It’s bl**dy fantastic. Young people just having a laugh, not a care in the world,” Liam enthusiastically declared.
