ITV viewers noticed that something seemed a bit off about This Morning’s on-air tribute to Holly Willoughby, and it was to do with her former co-host Phillip Schofield.
This Morning star Holly has announced she is leaving the ITV daytime show after hosting it for 14 years. In her emotional statement shared to social media on Tuesday (October 10) she announced she was stepping down for the sake of ‘her and her family’.
And on Wednesday, This Morning decided it was only right that they honoured Holly with a tribute to her at the start of the show, which was hosted by Craig Doyle and Rochelle Humes. In a major format change, the show’s introductory credits were altered to celebrate the departing host.

And after hosts Craig and Rochelle sent their love to Holly, clips of Holly with co-hosts Alison Hammond and Josie played. But there was no appearance from Phil.
And fans watching at home thought the tribute was lacking. And many reckoned it was because they weren’t able to show any photos or clips of Holly’s former co-host Phillip Schofield, meaning they would have struggled to find a good selection of moments for the montage.
They took to X, formerly Twitter, to point it out. One fan wrote: “absolutely creasing at #ThisMorning only showing clips of holly from the last couple of months of her 14 year career on the show because they can’t show anything with a certain person in it.”
Another said: “They can’t show any clips of Holls, as Phil is in most of em.” A third shared a meme of Pam from Gavin and Stacy saying: “Is that it?” alongside the caption: “Holly Willoughby watching her #ThisMorning tribute after 14 years.”
During the tribute, giant blue text read: “End of an era” on a bridge outside the studios before other messages of support like “family comes first” appeared on the screen. A huge photo of Holly appeared on the side of the This Morning studios next to the message: “We’ll miss you!”

Rochelle sent her “love, best wishes and respect” to Holly at the start of the show. She said: “Holly loved her job here and was really looking forward to the future of the show. But recent events, especially in the past week, have been hard to deal with. And she’s quite rightly put her family first.”
Craig added: “On behalf of everyone here in front and behind the camera, we just loved working with Holly and she made coming to work so much fun.”
