Helen Skelton, has opened up on the range of emotions she felt when her husband, Richie Myler, left her for another woman.
Having formed a family with three kids, the future seemed bright for the former Countryfile host and her partner. But in April 2022, following eight years of marriage, the father of her children decided to call time on their relationship.
With a love for rugby league side, Leeds Rhinos, the 33-year-old started seeing Stephanie Thirkill, the daughter of the millionaire president of the club, Andrew Thirkill.

Subsequently, in a move that rendered his ex-wife devastated, he made the call to pursue his relationship with his new love interest. The pair have since had a child of their own.
And now Helen has said she still doesn’t quite know what sparked the end of their romance. But she made sure to distract herself after going their separate ways.
She told The Sun: “I know that following break-ups, people often say they didn’t see it coming and it sounds like a cliché, but that was me.”
The presenter believed she may have been ‘consumed’ by her children, work and house project and ‘missed’ or, ‘ignored’ the warning signs. In a bid to distract herself after the split, the 40-year-old signed up for Strictly Come Dancing, and it’s fair to say, she caught the eye of the judges. While she didn’t initially feel confident, she managed to turn everything around.
After giving birth to three kids in six years, and losing her husband to another woman, she struggled to feel sexy. But with the help of her dance partner, Gorka Marquez, the TV personality started feeling like her old self.
In a testament to her bravery, in her new autobiography, ‘My Stride’, Skelton opened up on the challenges she faced in her dancing journey. Most strikingly, she battled with the fear of being labelled a ‘Bruised bride’.
She explained: “In week two, Gorka asked me why I didn’t feel sexy. It was an awkward question that immediately made me cringe. Why ask me that?! I was just there for the banter. I have never been sexy; I was the cute and funny type.
“He was asking a woman with three children under six, whose husband had just left her and was with another woman, TO BE SEXY. I thought, ‘Who would feel good about themselves in that scenario?’”
As the show progressed, Skelton came into her own. During an epic performance to the song Mein Herr, from Cabaret, for Musical’s Week, she blew the British public away, proving she was just as sexy as she’s always been.
Helen ultimately finished her time on the show in second-place, becoming the runners-up behind Hamza Yassin and Jowitz Przystal.
