This Morning ‘scraping the barrel’ as fans fume over ’embarrassing’ interview

This Morning viewers were less than pleased after tuning into the daytime programme for the first time this week as they branded the show “embarrassing”.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, 50, teamed up to present Monday’s instalment of the ITV show, kicking off the first full week since Holly Willoughby’s departure. At the beginning of the programme, the duo spoke to Isla Traquair who was live from North Aryshire where a killer clown has reportedly been roaming.

The clown, who has been wearing a Pennywise-inspired outfit, has been dotting red balloons around in Skelmorlie in recent weeks, leaving the locals in fear. As Isla spoke to the studio, the clown began wandering behind her as Alison, 48, shouted: “It’s behind you. It’s behind you Isla. Look!”

Later in the show, Isla sat down for a “world exclusive” interview with the clown. She then chatted to a few of the locals who shared their opinions on the spooky character, who has popped up in the town every October for the last three years.

A second agreed: “Just when you think they’ve scraped the bottom of the content barrel clean they come up with this.” Another enraged viewer added: “What the fk is this sh,*t?”

Someone else quipped: “Plenty of clowns producing #ThisMorning at the moment with the content on display.” While another viewer echoed: “It’s behind you! F**k me, panto season’s started already.”

It comes after Holly, 42, announced she was leaving This Morning after 14 years presenting the show. The mum-of-three released a lengthy statement surrounding her departure, explaining it was the best thing for her family.

Holly described it as a “difficult” goodbye before thanking viewers for their support over the years. She wrote: “Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day. Richard and Judy said, ‘We only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers’.

“It’s been an honour to just be part of it’s story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.” This Morning paid tribute to the star the next day following her decision to step away from the show.
