A BBC News presenter struggled not to laugh after he accidentally made a racy-sounding question on-air.
BBC Look North returned to screens on Thursday (January 4) with presenter Peter Levy back at the helm. On the show, he told viewers at home to get in touch about potholes in their area by sending in pictures of them.
The host said he would look through them and find some of the worst ones. He then revealed to the audience how he would send someone to come and fix the damage.

But things soon took an awkward, and slightly raunchy, turn during the broadcast. And viewers at home had something to say about it.
Peter asked his viewers to send in their entries via social media. But it seems his question could have been taken out of context, because it sounded like he was talking about peoples’ bottoms.
He said on air: “We’re already being contacted by viewers watching the programme, but we want to know how bad it is where you are. How big is your hole?”
It suddenly dawned on the alarmed newsreader what he said. Desperately trying not to laugh and as quick as a flash, he said “If you can send a picture, Norton’s always in a hole.
The clip then cut to a man lying in a pothole. Keen to move on and clarify his point, Peter continued: ‘If you can tweet me a picture, that would be good as well. The biggest potholes, we’ll be having some on the programme.”

The awkward moment didn’t go unnoticed from viewers at home. Stunned at the slip-up, one person on X, formerly known as Twitter, said: “The person monitoring that inbox is about to get some unexpected mail, I imagine.”
A second chimed in and penned: “Tell you what, he did very well not to lose it there.” Someone else stated: “Every week Look North gives us all a better reason to keep local programming alive.” A fourth penned: “A great start to the new year.”
Back in December, the BBC suffered another cringe incident when presenter Maryam Moshiri gave the middle finger live on air, unaware that the cameras were still rolling. The video went viral and the presenter issued an apology.
She explained at the time that she “was a private joke with the team” and that she was “so sorry it went out on air! It was not my intention for this to happen and I’m sorry if I offended or upset anyone,” she added.
“I wasn’t ‘flipping the bird’ at viewers or even a person really. It was a silly joke that was meant for a small number of my mates.”
