Sunday Brunch host Simon Rimmer was left feeling “awkward” after being quizzed about his Strictly Come Dancing stint.
The 60-year-old presenter was joined by co-host Tim Lovejoy on Sunday morning (January 6) as they welcomed a whole host of celebrity guests to the studio.
Conversation turned to guest and BBC Radio 1 presenter Melvin Odoom, who revealed he was voted out first from the main Strictly show back in 2016 but went on to win the Christmas special of the BBC dance competition in the same year.

Referring to the Strictly Christmas special, Simon, who took part in Strictly in 2017, said: “I’ve never been asked to do it. Awkward” before moving on to speak to guest Candice Brown, who was cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
It comes after Simon said he still gets “angry” over the Waltz routine he messed up on Strictly back in 2017 when he performed with professional dancer Karen Hauer. They made it to week five of the competition but Simon is still frustrated about his error.
He spilled at the time: “I had one dance that I messed up and, to this day, it still makes me angry six years since I did it. Every now and again I genuinely get angry with myself, and for Karen, for messing it up.” The chef was seemingly referring to his Waltz routine, which Karen once said gave her “nightmares”.
Despite the mishap, Simon said the “incredible” show was out of his comfort zone but, “one of the most positive experiences of my life”. He added on James Golding’s Always In Season podcast: “Every single person wants you to succeed. There’s no agenda, where they go, ‘He’s a bit rubbish so lets show him up a bit’. The pro dancers are amazing, you would die for your pro dancer.”

Simon recently announced he’s been forced to close his restaurant after 33 years. He shared the news in a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday (January 2) to announce that his eatery Greens Didsbury will no longer operate after over three decades years in business. He admitted it was a “very sad day”.
