The Traitors has dominated TV screens this year since the second season kicked off three weeks ago – and now it’s reported that a celebrity version is on the horizon.
The hit BBC murder-mystery gameshow has been bringing in millions of viewers as the show progresses. During last week’s string of episodes, an average of 4 million viewers tuned in for some of the show’s more tense scenes.
Now, it’s said BBC bosses are eyeing up the potential for a celebrity series to capitalise on the format of the show. And producers would be spoilt for choice for players as a slew of famous faces have revealed their love for the show.

Fans have already thrown out several names for a possible celebrity series as speculation continues to grow. And it seems they want two rival WAGs battling it out once more.
Amidst the names suggested are Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy, who found themselves at the centre of a scandal, as the Wagatha Christie saga dominated headlines in 2019. Other names that have been thrown into the mix include sports presenter Gary Lineker and former Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
An insider close to the show told The Sun that producers are looking to carry on the success of the show and continue to boost ratings. The source said: “Bosses want big names as the show is getting big viewing figures, and they know they’ll have plenty to choose from as The Traitors has huge fans within the showbiz world.”
They continued: “But they also want stars who are likely to be great game-players and who have great survival skills, the ability to double-cross or a way of sniffing out a back-stabber.” Ideas of a celebrity edition of the show have been rife since the show’s first series in 2022, but nothing materialised.
But the source added that the reasoning behind this was to cement the civilian edition of the show before branching out and contacting celebs. “The fact that the first two series have proved such a success has convinced them that now is the right time,” they said.
The Traitors’ second series has proved to be one of the biggest hits for the channel in years, as it consistently brings in millions of viewers gripped to the programme. The show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, is only set to grow more from strength to strength as the final edges ever closer.
The first series of the show, which aired in 2022, has since been watched a total of 34 million times on the BBC iPlayer. After the first series, the show won a slew of awards, with host Claudia, 52, picking up her first ever BAFTA gong.
The BBC declined to comment when contacted by Daily Star.
The Traitors airs Wednesday to Friday at 9pm on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
