Hollyoaks fans have been waiting for two characters to get together for months.
Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) and Dillion Ray (Nathanial Dass) have been growing closer in recent weeks and have almost shared a kiss on the Channel 4 soap before they got interupted.
Confused Lucas was was left absolutely devastated earlier this month when he arrived on Dillon’s doorstep to find out that his crush had just slept with Freya Calder (Ellie Henry). The teen, who is struggling with his sexuality, has developed very strong feelings for Dillon, who feels the same way, with things looking rather positive in regards to the prospect of a romance earlier this week after they bonded further.

Dillon had previously kissed Freya during a game of spin the bottle, which left Lucas upset as he stormed off but Dillon gave chase and the two shared a romantic moment as they held one another’s hand. Dillon was keen to discuss his and Lucas’ little moment further, wanting to know what exactly it meant.
However, Lucas was quick to backtrack, claiming he didn’t know what Dillon was talking about and, when he later witnessed Dillon flirting with Freya at school, he retaliated by telling headmaster and Freya’s dad, Carter Shepherd (David Ames) about their impromptu drinking session at his flat.
As the chemistry builds between the two teens, fans have been calling for soap bosses to let Lucas and Dillon be together. Addressing the “unexpected” reaction from viewers, Oscar, who has played Lucas since 2023, told Daily Star: “Let’s just put it this way, the start hasn’t even started yet so if, or when, or maybe they get together people will be happy. Me and Nate say all the time that we’re so grateful for the fans to put us together and we appreciate it.”
Dillon actor Nathanial added: “We didn’t expect people to respond like this so early on as this is just the beginning of a long, bendy road with loads of bumps. We’re close in real life so it makes it so much easier working with someone you like spending time with. There’s always that reservation when you come and you think ‘Am I going to get on with this person?’ because you spend a lot of time together so there’s always a little bit of anxiety but it’s been so nice because we’ve come in and we just get on so well.”
As headmaster Carter targets vulnerable pupil Lucas with conversion therapy, fans will have to wait and see if the young boy ends up getting into a relationship with Dillon or if he will have a change of heart.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights on E4 at 7pm followed by first-look episodes on Channel 4 streaming at 7.30pm
