Coronation Street is a well-know platform to kickstart a career, with many previous actors going on to become huge names.
With the likes of Sarah Lancashire, Sally Lindsay and Maureen Lipman to name just a few, the ITV soap has been a springboard for several huge names in the British acting industry. It also propels the actor themselves and their family off-screen into the spotlight as they learn to deal with having a famous relative.
But for some, others take it in their stride and instead enter the limelight themselves to create a famous family, thanks to their skills in acting, presenting or singing. Some, however become so big they outshine their original Corrie star.

So, as Coronation Street continues to welcome new characters to the Street, Daily Star looks at some of the cast who have some famous family members.
Dean and Kai Fagan
Dean Fagan was a part of the hit ITV soap for four years from 2014 until 2018. Playing the role of mechanic Luke Britton on the show, he was involved in a number of huge storylines, culminating in the eventual downfall of ultra-baddy Pat Phelan.
But aside from his illustrious acting career on both sides of the Irish Sea that followed him after his stint on the cobbles, he recently discovered he has another claim to fame. Dean was revealed to be the cousin of Love Island star Kai Fagan, who appeared on the winter 2023 edition of the show.
Mancunian Kai would eventually go on to win the show, together with Sanam Harrinanan, beating out big favourites Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall into second place. The former science and PE teacher has now left his job to become an influencer to nearly 400k followers, with things between him and Sanam only growing stronger.
Luca and Mike Toolan
New boy Luca Toolan has been stirring up trouble for the residents of Weatherfield as he plays ominous bully Mason Radcliffe. Joining the cast last year, Mason has been slowly recruiting Dylan onside to terrorise and destroy the lives of those who cross him.
Away from the cameras, however, Luca has not got a bad bone in his body and struggles to watch the show together with his family. This is in part thanks to his well-known dad Mike Toolan, who works as a DJ for commercial station Hits Radio. He beamed when his son first appeared on the show, saying he was “so proud” of his son getting the role.
Toolan is a staple of the station’s DJs, hosting the weekday drivetime show with former Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson at 4pm. Currently, however, with Gemma on maternity leave, fellow Corrie star Brooke Vincent – who played Sophie Webster on the soap – is filling in for her good pal.
Sally and Phoebe Dynevor
Sally Dynevor has been one of the longest-serving actors in the soap in recent times, playing Sally Webster. During her time on the show, she has gone through a number of gut-wrenching storylines, including real-life cancer battles, coercive control and wrongful imprisonment.
However, the mum-of-three is thrilled to be a part of the show – and it clearly inspired daughter Phoebe to go into acting and instantly be recognised for her young talent. Phoebe’s first breakthrough was in Netflix smash sensation Bridgeton, where she played the lead role Daphne – to critical acclaim.
Since then, Phoebe’s career is going from strength to strength as she appeared in a number of new projects including the Bank of Dave film in 2023 and two new films set to release this year.
