BGT judges fear being replaced by AI as Simon Cowell says ‘it’s probably cheaper’

Britain’s Got Talent judges fear they will be replaced by AI.

Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli have been left freaked out after an act used the technology in an audition for this year’s series. Rask AI used images of the four judges to make it look like they were singing while dressed as characters from hit movie The Greatest Showman.

The hopefuls planned the stunt without consent from any of the panel. When it was unveiled at their audition at the London Palladium, the judges were left stunned.

Amanda, 53, now worries show boss Simon Cowell, 64, will replace her with a virtual version and admitted: “It’s probably cheaper.”
Bruno, 68, replied: “Don’t give him an idea.”

The star, who also works on the US version of Strictly, added: “Thank God I’ve got the American deal.” Simon however isn’t worried about the rise of AI and admits he was thrilled to see an act use it.

The mogul wasn’t even bothered that they used an image of him without him knowing. He said during the BGT press launch: “We just saw these four people come out and then there were cameras and we just looked up and were like, ‘Oh my God, it’s us’. We had no idea what was going on.

Simon then pointed out that he liked the act because it wasn’t like anything else they had seen on stage. He added: “It’s another example of somebody doing something different.”

Amanda and Simon have been on the panel since it first aired in 2007, Alesha Dixon, 45, joined in 2012 and Bruno joined last year.
Bosses hope bringing all four of them back will be a ratings winner.

The judges spoke about the new series

Discussing what viewers can hopefully expect from the new series, Simon previously said: “It’s got a heart, great stories, things we’d never seen before, which is important because you don’t want to just keep repeating the same thing year on year. So overall, I couldn’t be happier.”

Other acts we’ll see this year include cheerleaders, a martial arts group and an singing impressionist. The new series starts tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV1.
